General Mach Discussion / Re: Spindle start up problem
« on: August 09, 2008, 03:27:06 PM »
Hi, BWP

Will the spindle run with the toggle switch by the motor vfd control, I have one very similar to this and the spindle isn't controlled by Mach, But it can be.

The SW's they use are cheep, Already had one go bad, Spin on/off is 5 volt logic, Gnd or Open, on/off.

Looks like theres power to the vfd, Probably just a bad SW. Motor is 3 Phase, Water cooled.I'd think.

In your pic of the BOB, I see the step & dir wires and Limit X, Y, Z wires, But no Spindle ON/Off wires. ?

The switch's beside the motor control, Power to Steppers, Power to Spindle Vfd, Spindle On/Off. ?

Hi, M1911bldr

You need to install screenHunter Free hears a Link http://www.wisdom-soft.com/sh/index.htm

Post your g-code, You may have a G52 temp-offset in effect, Click on Machine Coord's Button, If there a difference in the DRO values, Type in your MDI line type G52x0y0z0 Ent-key, Then they should be the same, Then G00x0y0z0 should take you to home position.

The manual stated something about not running the stepper fast enough could have issues, But x and y should be the same hear, Maybe it's the mid band adjustment ?

I need to go back and re-read that.

Hi, Dave

I was saying run the Gecko's direct from the computer P-port, To eliminate the BOB interaction for a test.

Another thought, Are the Y axis wires routed in the same manner as your other axises and away from high/current power wires.

Are all your steppers the same and current set resistors the same, Yellow Led's on the Geckos lighting up the same.

Have you adjusted the midband adjustment's also, per the Gecko's manual, Checked all the connections..

Hood, I've always run my Gecko's direct to P-Port in testing, Don't recall any issues ether, Hi or Low.

Thanks, Chip

Hi, Garylmast

Have you tried un-checking "Use WatchDogs", In config, General Config, Usually gives a Watch-Dog error warning though.

Just a Thought, Chip

Hi, Ed

It's on the Gen-Config page top right, It's setting can be from 0- 2000 or so mostly to weed-out spurious noise on Input's.

Maybe Hood is recovering from all the Abuse, B--r--e--t--t.....LOL.......?
