Hi, Mike

Sounds like your machine is not setup or calibrated  properly, Under Config, "Set Default Units" to Inch mode then you need to re-do your Steps Per and re-tune Velocity and Acceleration in Config, Motor Tuning.

Your xml worked fine hear, Try this printer port tester, Set Mach to Sherline 1/2 step mode and set the tester to "As fast as possible".

It's a feature in most Cad programs, What Cad are you using ?

You select the Text and it turns it into lines and arc's.

You have a line in your drawing and you need to Explode the Text in your Cad program.

Dose the att pic show the wire color code you have, I think your steppers are wired parallel, Bipolar.
