General Mach Discussion / Increase axis drive speed

Hi

I haven't posted on the forum for a while due to illness but I would like some help please.

I have added an intermediate pulley to my X axis and re-calibrated the drive so the distance moved is correct  but now the axis is moving too slowly and I can't speed it up as the drive settings are at their maximum so I am not sure how to speed up the axis further.

Any help much appreciated.

A easier way would be to use the calculator, get the points, put into 2d CAD and it have it drawn.
Even that  requires some level of experience.

CamBam can do it all and there is info in the manual on how it's done.

A number of ways, but, my thoughts are what is free and needs the least amount of know how to do.

Hi Michae

I think you're problem is better solved using a 3d cad program to construct the surface and then a CAM programme to generate the gcode.
In your 3d cad programme you will need to generate a parabola and then rotate it to form the surface (parabolic dish).
In order to generate the parabolic line you will need to look up the formula that describes it, y=x^2
You should be able to generate the points required using chosen values of y.

As far as I know a dxf file is just a text file so open it in notepad and see if you can read it.

Hi Tweakie

It was just a test really to see if my mill would cope fine work and to get the feel of using CamBam. This one is for the BMW R26 I am restoring. I have done another, slightly different one for a friend of mine.

I have got a number of designs I am hoping to make and sell.
