In build 1754 feed rate now metric, great, but the units for Soft Max and Min on the Homing/SoftLimits tab of Configuration seem to be in inches when machine is set to metric!

The Show Tool Path Limits is still not persistent.

As requested attached is my profile and a Gcode file, Blank Outlines V2-2.nc, I have been using for my testing.  This will show the feed rate in inches while the profile is set to metric.

BTW I notice that the "Show Tool Path Limits" on the Tool Path tab of Configuration is not sticky>

I have my profile configured for metric and notice the feed rate is still in inches, needs a conversion.

Looking good, I like the screen editor, simple and intuitive.  I was able to fix many of the issues in the default screen without too much trouble.  It would be good if there were some bold text that could be used on the screens, my eyesight isn't good these days.  Some of the LEDs are a bit dim, hard to tell if they are on or off.

I have my profile configured for metric and notice the feed rate is still in inches, needs a conversion.

I have observed a few strange behaviours when running some of my old part programs but haven't pinned them down yet, restarting often helps.  I have found that a crash will leave the core running so I need to use Task Manager to kill it before a restart will work.

Cheers

OK thanks I can do that.  Is there a way I can access the Message from VB in a macro?  Dose the Message box have a DRO number?

Thanks BR549,

Yeah I did mean CAM.

I have Mach3 configured to stop of a tool change so I could put the tool description after the TxM6 on the same block to see if that would work.  I have it in the block before the TxM6 but the info is gone when I come to replace the tool.  I sometimes need to scroll back the part code to verify the next tool which is a bit of a pain.

I was hopping to write out the tool list required for the part at the beginning of each run, just trying to be clever.

How can I pass a text string from Gcode to a macro?  I would like to write the tool description from my CAD to the tool table.in Mach3 to help ensure I load the correct tool when I manually change tools.  I can get the tool number and diameter into the macro but haven't found a way to gwt the description.

Hi Dave,

I have just check this again and the answers to your questions are as follows.

1) when you are setting Z0 via probing, is this in MT mode or non-MT mode?
It wont let me set Z0 in MT mode without the MT being mounted.  It goes through the motions the gives an error message.  I have the probe mounted an use the non MT mode to set Z0

2) if MT mode, then is MT # = Probe T # when Z0 is set?
Not in MT mode for this test.  If I mount the MT all works as it should.

Probe # =250
MT # = 251

3) What is the diameter of the probe tool in the tool table?
The diameter of the probe after calibration is 2.7066mm the probe position after setting Z0 is close to half of this at 1.3517.

I was trying to use the probe to measure the thickness of my mobile TP when this cropped up.  I can always subtract the radius.

CVI MachStdMill (MSM) / Probe question
« on: September 19, 2010, 01:41:25 AM »
Hi Dave,

I have noticed that when I set the WCz zero with the probe using the Probe Z- button on the WC Offset Probing tab and then set Probe Only and probe the same position the Z Probed Pos reads 1.1126 mm not zero as I would have expected.  Is this the radius of the effective probe ball?

Will there be a simmilar error on the X and Y? ???
