Oh the tax man - he's a laugh ain't he?

I've got a bit of blurb on my site about the Hypertherm models and "robotics" interface if it's any help - (hopefully I won't get whacked for advertising  ;D)

Missed this one Russ - maybe I'm too late. If you can I'd go for the machine torch. The PM45 comes with a remote trigger/divider/arc good interface already built-in but it only works with the machine torch fitted. You're going to want a THC in the future right? BTW my two whatnots is Hypertherm too.

I am not sure why the last links did not work.
Hover your mouse over them and look at the link. You copied a URL that included the protocol (http) into the Insert Hyperlink tags which itself adds another http - did it myself just a couple of weeks back - felt like a right tit  ;D

Modbus / Re: Arduino Mega with MACH3
« on: April 11, 2012, 08:59:00 AM »
My thinking was that both need to be at least considered for a generalized solution. Consider the activity on the serial line as commanded moves get smaller.

Looks like your modbus device is handling 16 bit numbers as signed twos complement and Mach is handling them as unsigned plain vanilla so if the range -32768 to +32767 is enough for your app. then
in your brain if the number sent from your modbus device to Mach is interpreted by Mach as being > 32767 then subtract 65536 from it else use the number unchanged.

Modbus / standard serial plugin port numbers query
« on: April 04, 2012, 11:17:13 AM »
With "modbus plugin supported" ticked on ports n pins the modbus configuration screen has a column labeled Port/Address which implies you can have a different serial Port for each Cfg# line (not sure what the /Address bit of that label is supposed to mean). So what's the single Port text field (top left) for? Just seems redundant/confusing.

Any wisdom gratefully received.

Hi Terry

THCOn broken here too (same V as you). However startTHC and endTHC calls appear to work.

Cheers

5). Scrap the Brian stuff, and just do it all in a macro pump, or periodic macro.

 ;D ;D ;D

General Mach Discussion / Re: Parallel port help
« on: February 20, 2012, 01:47:13 PM »
I only connect to internet to download mach3. After that it is in the workshop with no connection. Do0n't know how to put emoticons on here, but would have put a smile re. Stirlings comment. He is of course quite correct.
So would you recommend that I start again with a fresh installation of XP and install Mach3 from a memory stick? That would leave out the internet and anti-virus. Having said that, I had them on the old PC with no ill effect.

Gareth
Hi Gareth - glad you took it the way it was meant  :) (emoticons are available if you use the reply button at the bottom of the posts rather than using "quick reply")

It MAY be that even if your PC is physically disconnected the "net" and antivirus software are still running though I may have mis-understood you. Then again it may be nothing to do with it. BUT I guess it's a reasonable part of the process of ilimination.

Stirling--- The first thing I do when I connect a PC to the internet is install antivirus software.
Actually you should install the anti-virus BEFORE you connect  8) - Sorry - couldn't resist it.

But as angel tech said. Anti-virus + net + Mach =  :'(
