General Mach Discussion / Re: No Y axis movement Easy Loader Plasma table
« on: February 08, 2012, 04:18:04 PM »
hi bpsd - welcome to the forum

best bet for starters is to post your .xml file. This can be found in c:\mach3 and will be called <your profile name>.xml
<your profile name> is displayed bottom right of your mach3 screen.
post it here using the "additional options" at the bottom of the "reply" page. (not quick reply).
to post it rename it as bpsd1.xml

I would take that doc with a pinch of salt. As I've said in many threads - it's not very good and in some places just plain wrong.

Your original CV Distance of 1.0 means you're allowing (not telling) CV to drop to 1 unit/min if it needs to which is (as you've found on your machine) just about the same as exact stop. Setting this to your commanded feedrate is pointless - CV can't do that by it's very nature.

Brains Development / Re: How to run a Brain triggered Macro.........
« on: February 08, 2012, 07:28:53 AM »
Just a couple of thoughts guys but why would we want to run a macro as a result of an input using a brian? That's what OEM triggers do i.e. input goes active, macro runs - no brainer ;D. Or was that just an example?

Also - what's to stop a brain running a macro whilst another (or the same) macro is already running - we know that's uber bad for Mach's health.

Sorry - just being devil's advocate.  >:D

Thanks for your help "fastest1"!!!!

LOL - don't be too hard on me chadgarber if that's what the "!!!" are for... if I hadn't moved your post here you'd probably be getting nowhere down in the FAQs doldrum.

On the diagnostics page, when I press my estop buttons the green lights indicate that they are definately working, but when I run into them with my gantry it doesn't stop anything.
Are you sure you're talking about the correct LED (green light) as there should be only ONE and you're refferring to THEM as in plural - also your gantry runs into LIMITS and/or HOMES not e-stops - it sounds as if maybe you're confusing E-Stop with limits maybe?

Also there an estop switch located on my plasma torch head assembly, which is used for telling my head to stop when it reaches the material.
Again you appear to be confused - this switch is not an e-stop. This should either be configured as a home switch (for G28.1 height sensing) or as a probe input (for G31 height sensing).

As Hood says, post your XML and we'll take a look.

mancman4 - You've been given a while to respond but as you know by now if you didn't know before, you're using a pirated licence. We do not condone software theft here so this thread is now closed and your account closed. If you feel this is in error contact Mach Licencing.

there you go chadgarber a topic of your own - please don't hijack other's threads especially ones that are old and have nothing to do with the question you're asking. Also FAQ's is for .... well Frequently Asked Questions...

If it's not in the code, and the control is open loop, how can it go nuts and not stay out of whack, then get back to normal ? (just wondering)
Good point Russ - I'm glad someone's awake already. The only way I can think that could happen is metal pop - you know - it get's hot and pop it suddenly kicks/expands up/down out - every which way - of course I could be talking complete bo**ox.  ;D

Ian

EDIT: Then again depending on the scale of this thing (which we don't yet know) if your arc expands you could get something like this and that could happen if your air supply falters as I suggested above as a possibility. Just a thought...

Hi Terry - first off I feel your pain - this sort of sh*t can be a real PITA. HOWEVER - one thing I've learned about plasma is that it's a house of cards that can be affected by a gazillion variables. This problem could be:

Mach is failing in some way. - you could be right.
Your electronics is being spooked. An alluminium welder starting up in the next shed used to throw mine off but nothing else bothered it. (now fixed!).
Your mechanics could be sticking. >24" job takes you to a bad area on your table where as a smaller job doesn't maybe?
Your air supply is loosing pressure momentarily. Someone else in your shop just happened to use it at the same time maybe? - Or perhaps long cuts hit the air tank more than short cuts?
Your THC is quirking. None of them are perfect!!!
and probably loads more...

Just trying the voice of reason before we try to nail this problem.

Beat me to it. Not sure what it is about bikes. A guy I know has loads stacked up that he did when evaluating various water-jets. Some of them were amazing - around 10mm high AND thick - done with water-jet!!! and they were perfect. Anyway here's one I did on plasma - it's about 150mm long. Don't laugh at the quality  :o - it was one of my first attempts with a crappy cutter and no thc a few years back (honest!).
