General Mach Discussion / plasma torch control
« on: December 09, 2007, 08:02:57 AM »
Hi - Can someone give me a brief lesson in how this works/ties in with Mach please. Things like...

turning the torch on and off - presumably this is similar to spindle control?
how do you tap into the torch to "read" arc voltage for THC?
Can this be done with any torch or do only some have this "output"?
Presumably I need some (AD converter?) hardware between this and Mach?

TIA

General Mach Discussion / why is mach suddenly doing this?
« on: December 02, 2007, 10:34:34 AM »
So I'm using Mach for half the morning no problem. Then out of the blue it decides that close enough is good enough ??? ??? ???

i.e. instead of moving X, Y and Z to EXACTLY where the part file tells it to, it goes to within a few (random) hundredths instead.

Please see the attached piccy and compare lines 70 and 80 to the DROs.

Anybody got any ideas?

WARNING: Rant alert....

Why do I seem to spend more time trying to get Mach working these days than making chips????

Rant over  ;D

General Mach Discussion / problems with G31 Z and bed o' nails type probing
« on: November 20, 2007, 05:38:00 AM »
Like with Art's wizard or Art and Brian's plugin (or anything else that uses G31 Z). Anyone come accross feedrate randomly changing and G31 Z crunching your probe after ignoring it touched on the way down? Seems to come and go at random, but both happen together.

I'm pretty sure this didn't happen pre 2.56 but I may be wrong.

General Mach Discussion / where did CV go?
« on: November 01, 2007, 01:31:15 PM »
V2.56.1

So I'm using the machine all morning and all is well. :)

I resume this afternoon and CV is gone - disappeared - ceased to be - awol. Jerky toolpaths enough to shake the thing to bits. Not only that but I'm getting limits going off all over the place.  >:(

I look everywhere for what's changed. Can't find anything - so then I give up and just do a re-install. Same profile though and hey presto everything's immediately cool again  :)

Is it me or is Mach getting a little Kellogs these days? ???

VB and the development of wizards / phantom code
« on: October 12, 2007, 12:46:54 PM »
Hi

Has anyone come accross Mach not actually executing a 'code' statement but "thinking" it has?

i.e. in my code this fragment works fine most of the time but every now and then there's no movement.

code "G01 X.."
while ismoving()
wend

... rest of code

General Mach Discussion / edge finding/2.5D probing
« on: October 01, 2007, 06:49:54 AM »
Hi - As I understand it there are no macros/wizards/plugins currently available in Mach for this - i.e. you're on your own with G31. Is this correct?

Is this possible in mach or does it only home sequentially?

thanks

General Mach Discussion / limit override
« on: June 29, 2007, 03:36:14 PM »
I think I probably wandered off topic when I put this on the end of another post so here it is anew.

I upgraded from R1.84.002 to R2.00.065 and noticed that limit override (both manual and auto) doesn't appear to work. There's just no way to get off a limit (other than disabling them in ports n pins).

Has anyone else come accross this or have I set something up wrongly?

I've switched back to  R1.84.002 for the moment and everything is fine.
