General Mach Discussion / Floating head switchoffset
« on: April 30, 2009, 10:02:52 AM »
Hi all,
finally my floating head works fine. But I spent three days for this, until I realise what switchoffset really is.
I mentioned this is the travel between moments when switch is on and off, usually 0,5 - 1 mm.
But it isn't.
It includes complete travel of floating head holding plate, from the moment when torch touches material, to the moment when switch is activated. In my case - 16 mm.
I suppose I didn't precisely understood the explanations and texts I got. (I newer learned English in the school),
Thanks to everybody who helped me

General Mach Discussion / Re: Soft limits problem, still confused

Hi Hood,
I'm wondering why Machine DRO and Z axis DRO sometime have the same number after homing (60 mm, that is offset)
and sometime Z axis DRO is different (zero or whatever). This happens during testing G code step by step, when I do homing in the middle of "cutting"

Hi Hood,
One must carefully look at Error mesage line! All the time I suspected at Z axis, but problems were with X or Y axis! I have set material bottom left coordinates too big!

Ho Hood,
THIS IS VERY INTERESTING: THE SMALL WINDOW WITH THE MESSAGE "SOFTLIMIT WARNING...CONTINUE?"
HAS THE NAME MACH4 !!!!

General Mach Discussion / Soft limits problem, still confused
« on: April 27, 2009, 05:54:57 AM »
Hi Hood,
I must ask for help again.
I use plasma table with THC300, and SheetCam postprocessor Plasma THC300 - G31 - corner slowdown.post.
I home my Z axis torch carriage at the top position. Z axis travel is 100 mm
When I start the cut, Z axis goes up, touch the limit switch and this is the end!
I see in generated G code the first instruction is to go UP 50 mm (my safe Z position).
I've been advised to insert snippet code: G31 Z -100 F500 and to set Soft max to 60 mm, Soft min to -50 mm and Home offset to 60 mm and Auto zero checked. Pretty confusing for beginner like me!
Sometimes it works, but sometimes, when I load another G code file,  I get Soft limits warning when I start cutting, and question to proceed or not.

Actually, don't knew where to look to find problem source.

I have idea install another limit switch and to home down to find zero position. And without code snippet.
Please advise.
BTW, What exactly is mentioned with those three lines of code: (I selected mm for my units, NOT inch)

Hi Erik,
How did you change Bob's M03 macro?

General Mach Discussion / THC300 jumps up down
« on: April 19, 2009, 11:52:08 AM »
Hi,
I just started cutting a straight line for testing. I see torch goes all the time up and down for small amount and Up and Down leds goes on and of 2 to 3 times per second. The cut is not ideal. Material is 4 mm steel, and 60 amps
What to adjust in this case?

General Mach Discussion / Re: THC300 postprocessor mistake???

Hi Hood,
Should I use Floating head switch as home switch?
It is connected now at Probe input pin. Should I set the same input pin as Home switch pin?

Hi Hood,
Yes, I can set Safe z to -50 in Mach3, but as you can see, line N0110 generated by SheetCam says +50. I think the problem is generated in SheetCam. I'm stil confused how to configure Homing and soft limits.

General Mach Discussion / THC300 postprocessor mistake???
« on: April 18, 2009, 12:01:01 PM »
Hi all,
I knew it's weekend, but I need urgent help.
I have set my plasma machine Z axis as follows:
Z limit switch is on the top. Soft Max limit is 0, and soft min limit is -100, Home neg. checked.
Safe Z is 50 in machine coordinates.
When I start Homing, Z axis goes up to the switch, then down and stops to the limit sw off. Soft limits button works.
But when i start cutting process, Z axis goes up, touch the limit switch and Mach3 resets!
It stops at line N0110, (see below) and It reports Limit sw error.
In SheetCam I use Plasma THC300-G31-Corner slow down. post
I'm confused about how to solve this problem, what is configured wrong, or why post processor generates N0110 line. Is it possible SheetCam knows about Z safe coordinate?
