General Mach Discussion / Mach3 Controlled embroidery Machine
« on: January 13, 2016, 11:38:56 PM »
Hi guys and seniors,
I am currently developing the software to generate Gcode for embroidery machine. Yes for real industrial embroidery. Any sewing machine can be modified and controlled with the help of Mach3.
Now please tell me who want to make this dream true!... The discussion is open... I will soon show my software screenshot and will share the screenshot of the software as will as high speed DIY embroidery machine videos controlled with Mach3.

Hi All,
Plunged into new adventure for fabrication of CNC Portable Milling/Boring machine from readily available material. I am working in a reputable petrochemical industry. Presently, we have to make a 150 x 80x 90mm deep tappered slots (15 degree draft angle) for repair of a crack. The existing portable machine did good job on a mockup but due to increase in depth and lot of vibration issues the mock-up job completed in 90Hrs. Thats a big downtime for a plant.
This is the time to make a more rigid and efficient CNC machine that may be portable and mounted on a circular shell at any orientation .. The CNC will be added benefit.
Here are some pictures of the build. The Cross slides working area is 200mm and the Z-axes can travel 100mm. I used salvaged Linear rails and ball screws for this. The machine base is not casted but we have used 30mm Carbon Steel plate
We hope that by implementation of this machine we will drastically reduce the time from 90Hrs to 12Hrs or less.

The target completion date was 15days from scratch which we have achieved timely. Zafar Salam installed CNC control system. He will describe further in this thread.

Hi guys,
I have learnt a lot from this forum and now i want to return a little back to this forum... I want to offer FREE 3D Laser scanning services to the community..

NOW, YOU DON'T NEED TO PURCHASE EXPENSIVE LASER SCANNER AND SPENT A LOT OF MONEY. I AM HERE TO RENDER MY LASER SCANNING SERVICES FREE OF CHARGE TO ALL MACH3 FORUM MEMBERS.

BUT,I need your help:

1- Preparing some Rules and Regulations for such scanning work.
2- Obtaining a server where i can post the 3D Models

I need your help in the first part for now. For example,
1- i can't buy the object to scan it for you, you have to provide the object.
2- You have to bear shipment charges if you want to send me or getting it back.
3- I am not liable to any damage to the part.
4- if the part is available in my locality, i will just ask for Fair price to purchase and scan free for you.
5- If it is household item i will scan free for you (if it is in my house) and send you mesh model.
6- I will send you MESH model in STL or OBJ format only.
7- The part to be scan should not be from Atomic power plant, Weapons etc
8- If the object is Transparent, translucent, shiny and dark.. I have to apply fine powder on it.. The cost of powder and consumables will be beared by the member...
9- I have the right to display the scanned pictures on my blogsites
10- The scanned Model will be my property

I will be grateful if you can add further or rephrase the above so that we have some legal obligations at both sides. As i am giving you laser scanning services free of charge....

Currently, i have some scans done and you can see the quality:

Hi Guys,

I recently purchased G203 V Gecko drives that having 10Microsteps...
My setup for X and Y axes:

Motor= 1.8 degree= 200Steps
Belt Reduction:        3:1
Ball Screw            : 5TPI
Gecko Microstep:       10

Steps/Inch =200 x 3 x 5x 10 =30000 Steps/Inch

I am running my 1GHz processor computer in 35KHz mode.

Now, after automatic tuning  in Mach3  i got 35456.256steps/inch for X and Y axes and 75256.235 steps/inch for my Z-axes.

My speed at X and Y is now limited to 70IPM and for Z axis its more low.Unfortunately, on Gecko the Microstep values is not adjustable... but the drives works great:)

Somebody tell me can i increase the speed without change in Hardware?

If I convert the Steps/inch into Steps/mm can i able to increase the speed?

General Mach Discussion / Strange Problem- Never seen before
« on: July 12, 2010, 10:17:46 AM »
Hi,
Today i was calibrating my Y-axis slide... After calibration i started Mach3...Put G00 Y12 in MDI command line... The motor moved to exact 12mm.... But when I put in MDI G00 Y0.. The motor didn't moved.. When I entered G00 Y-12 motor moved to G00 Y0 (ie original position)... Why this happen?
Any thig wrong in settings?

Recently i have retrofitted Radial drill machine and currently having  an issue with 'drifting' + in the X axis. I have a work piece on which i have drill some holes and then profile milling upto 4mm deep with 0.5mm DOC per pass... After centre drilling and final drilling of 7mm dia drill 4mm deep, i started milling with 3-flutes 6mm end mill... After 1 Hour the job was finished and the end mill went to its zero position about 2mm toward the positive X-axis...

I saw the profile and i found step ladder (each pass with little drift toward X) toward one side whereas i have removed material from the other end...In several levels in Z I can see by the faces of the pocket that it drifts (steps on one side, smooth on the other).. This figure will depend upon the length of program run, longer program, bigger drift. Any ideas?

I have backlash compensation On.
The computer is dedicated to Mach software only.

Material SS-316 solid bar
Depth per pass= 0.5mm
Feed: 2IPM
Dormer end Mill HSco 3-flutes
Spindle Speed= 800 RPM
Ramping

Kind regards
Khalid

General Mach Discussion / Combine G73 and G83 Peck Drill Cycle!!
« on: July 02, 2010, 11:02:14 AM »
Currently drilling lot of holes on Stainless steel tube sheets and baffles... I am using HSS drill 8mm, 9mm and 10mm with great success so far.. Currently my strategy is using G83 for thorough hole 65mm deep in stainless steel and then enlarge these holes in second operation by using G73 cycle and using 10mm drill..

Now using G83 with Q=2mm for a hole of 65mm deep it gets 12minutes that is a lot of time... Is their any possibility i use G73 for a half of that thickness and then continue the same hole with G83 peck drill?

Any thought or suggestion?

General Mach Discussion / Does Kernel Speed can cause IPM Limitation?
« on: July 02, 2010, 10:52:14 AM »
Hi,
My Z-axis Step/unit= 15000 mm/minutes , and the Mach3 run on Kernel speed=25000Hz .. I can't go above 16IPM rapid... Is that the Kernel speed that can't generate the pulses?

Hi,
I need advice from you guys for converting the Radial Drill Machine to CNC...  As i have no experience with Servos..and especially converting this machine is a big job for me..and it bad experience will get my carrier down... But i will take the risk with the help of you guys..
I figured out the length of BED= 1800mm x 1600mm
Also the Weight of the bed it has to carry = 2000Kg

I checked that the Motor at the Top of the Column is 3 Phase 2 KW AC motor.. and it can raise the whole ARM along with the Heavy spindle with 70IPM ...I have seen this.. About Diameter: 2 inch ACME screw get the whole Arm Load up and down very easily..

Should 2.2KW AC servos at all 3-axis will work or enough for me?.. I have not to raise the Arm up and down... I have just to move the spindle up/down..The Whole Spindle lateral movement (X-axis) and the Bed as a Y-axis..

Best Regards for help...

I am having a strange problem today.. My Keyboard Arrow Keys failed to Jog the Motors...even the 'Page Up' and Page Down' keys didn't moved my Z-axis motor...I have done following more test:

a) I checked the System Hotkeys Setting in Mach3 and they were defined correctly for all Axes.
b) I open a Notepad and wrote some paragraph and Scrolled each Alphabets with Keyboard Arrow keys and they worked perfectly.
c) I have made a quick test to see if all axis are working is to issue some G0 commands on the MDI page of Mach3.  I typed G00 X2 Y4 Z6 and entered and all motors moved to its locations.

From a decade i am using the same Keyboard and the Arrow keys working perfectly in other applications but why it failed today?..Any idea or suggestions?
