General Mach Discussion / Slave axis control

Hi

Is there any way i can lock the rotation direction for the slave axis. My application is intended to mill model engine cranks and cam shafts so while the Z and Y axis perform a circular motion the A axis needs to be sincronized with the Y axis and always turn in one direction even when the Y axis reverses during the circular motion. Also if anyone can give me an idea as to how to sincronize the A axis it would be great.

VB and the development of wizards / macropump problem

Hi
Why dose Mach stop responding to keyboard commands for axis movement when i activate a macropump.
The macropump i installed is very simple.

A=getdro(3)
Z=getdro(2)
If A/360 = Int(A/360)
Then
 L=Z+0.1
Else
 L=Z
Endif
code "G1 Z"& L

Any help appreciated

General Mach Discussion / PC SHUTS DOWN

Hi

While cutting a 3d model Mach just closed and the PC preceded to shut down.
This it did twice.
I checked windows settings regarding hibernation etc and all the settings are switched off including screen saver.
I am using Windoes XP.

I have one PC a small mill and an engraver.
The mill and engraver have different configuration and motor tune up settings.
Is there a way that i can choose the machine after i load Mach 3 ?

General Mach Discussion / Machine protection

Hi Guys


I have nearly completed my cnc engraver and need some advice on screw and guide protection.
Since this machine is a moving table design my main concern is to cover the guides and screw of the x axis.
I was thinking of a roller blind arrangement.
Any advice or links will be appreciated.

LazyCam (Beta) / Lazy Cam pain

While i greatly appreciate the very valid effort by Rich.I still find it very hard to make some sense
out of this program.My efforts are up to now primarily directed to turning and have tried to follow
LazyCam manual for turning rev0 by Rich.For those who have downloaded this manual in chapter
Turning Tools and parameters Rich gives us a simple DXF and very rightly urges us to play around
with parameters in Tool selection.
If you change the back angle to 1 deg and create profile you get a turning pattern which looks Ok
If you change the back angle to 30 deg and create profile you get the same pattern
There are various examples of back angle settings which give the same pattern.
Having paid for this program i think i will persevere a little longer
What i really cannot understand is why the originators of this program havent at least given us a CLEAR
definition of what the various parameters and settings mean.
What is Back angle
What is Width(Grroving tool only)
and many others
No excuse of a Beta version here.
Even Rich who well ahead than i am in DECIFERING this utility is assuming things as he goes along
Please help us in understanding this program and start using it.That way we can share our experiences and maybe
come up with ideas to IMPROVE IT.

General Mach Discussion / lpt problems

Hi Guys

I have set up the spindle index on input 13 port 1 and while testing found that if i leave this input high for a few seconds i get a pulse high
output from 2 , 3 and some other output. I tried input 11 which is the other available input i have with the same result.
From what i gather pin 13 is used as SELECT when this port is used for printer.I tried to change from SPP TO EPP with no success.
Can anyone tell me what is going on.

General Mach Discussion / dxf files for Turn

I have managed to set up my Emco compact 5 and Mach turn and now
need to cut some profiles. I have never drawn profiles for turning and when
i tried some simple stuff Easycam would not load the drawing.
Can anyone share a few sample DXF drawings to get me started.

General Mach Discussion / enable outputs

I needed to use enable outputs and assigned Enable#1 pin 1 and Enable#2 to pin 14.
Only Enable#1 worked.
I then tried all Enable outputs on different pins and only Enable#1 and Enable#3 worked

Also i need to assign some outputs for miscellaneous tasks

Can anyone help
