General Mach Discussion / Screen Set Issue
« on: January 09, 2015, 08:49:23 AM »
Ok so I feel kind of ridiculous asking about this but here goes.  My operators (who are not real computer savvy) have been using the ez-router rev6.03 screen set since the beginning.  I really don't care what screen set it is, but they like the jog buttons on the screen that are actuated with a mouse.  If I were to change screensets with no jog buttons (hence having to use the keyboard), I'm sure I will run into problems with them. :o

So I copied the file over into the main c:/Mach3 folder and I was missing bitmaps.  I got that figured out except I am missing the main frame around all of the areas.  I guess I'm just not sure where the screensets pull the bitmaps from.  OR if you could point me in the right direction of where to get a screen set that has the jog buttons I would be grateful.

One other thing, on the BOB I've had it where the signals going to the x axis were behaving weird, so I changed all the wires to the aux part of the BOB and changed my pinouts in Mach.

If you've used the program a bunch of times, I'm going to guess there is something wrong with the table mechanically.  Is everything tight?  I've had it where I've had a loose pinion, a belt about to finally break apart, a loose setscrew, binding due to lack of lubrication, etc, etc.  I've had bad geckos, bad boards, bad motherboards on computers.  I've even had cables partially plugged in that will ever so slightly come just loose enough to keep the machine running but the router turns off.  I've also had loose wires going into the BOB.  Just a few ideas from my experience.

Are you using a sharpened bit that is no longer 3/8?

Is there a pic of this machine?

No, what makes the sound?

Thanks for the reply.  It is dedicated.  It is not hooked up to the internet.  It is hard wired into my LAN.  I'm just trying to isolate if it's a computer problem, or if it's a Mach settings problem.

I know if I set the accel too high, I will lose steps.  However, I didn't know if I set the accel too low, or if you have high velocity with low accel, if it could lose steps.

Could lost steps be a processor problem?

Of course, there was a power outage two weeks ago and I'm wondering about the BOB in the control box too.  It's just aggravating the thing will work fine for awhile, but then when I'm away and the operators are in there, the machine will lose position (I'm assuming because of lost steps and not mechanical) and ruin material ???

Yes, I'm using two gas shocks from Suspa on the z axis.  At any rate, that computer crashed a few times today and didn't do it until I started messing with these values.  I have removed some unnecessary programs and tried to pare down what XP is doing.  I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow.  I just didn't know if messing with the acceleration would cause a missed step problem/computer crash.
