SmoothStepper USB / Motor tuning doesn't open
« on: May 25, 2019, 12:13:47 PM »
I was going to cut some clock wheels. When checking the A-axes it revolved more than 200 dg. when asked for 180 dg. Tried to open the Motor Tuning under the Config in Mach3 CNC Controller. It would not open. Is this a SS issue?
Please help! What to do?

General Mach Discussion / Objekt out of sight on screen
« on: January 23, 2014, 03:37:21 PM »
Hi
When I load a object into the mill the picture do not show up at the working area on the screen, but far outside. I have "homed" all the axes. This have not happen to me before. The mill is cutting the object OK but the indicator on the screen don't follow picture on the screen.
Do I have a corrupt file? Should I re-install MACH3? Any advice and suggestion is most welcome.

General Mach Discussion / x and y movement confusen
« on: December 17, 2013, 03:04:13 PM »
I am confused of the movement on my mill. (Mach 3 settup) I espect the spindle  to go to the left (+ postiv dir.) when I press the left arror, put +10x in the dro and then "go to zero" and put g0x10 in the MDI. The same in the y direction (+ posetiv dir. away from me {or up}).
But this is what is happening in the x dir.:

Press left arrow spindle move to left (OK)
Enter +10 in x DRO, spindle move to left (OK)
Enter g0x10 in MDI, spindle move to right (?)

In the y dir, this is what happen:
Press up arrow spindle move up (OK)
Enter +10 in y DRO, spindle moves down (?)
Enter g0y10 in MDI, spindle moves up (OK)

How can I correct this? My mill is working well, but it is confusing to remember this and its easy to go wrong.

Thanks for any help

LazyTurn / Tool change
« on: May 10, 2013, 01:59:48 PM »
Hi, need some help!

I am drawing a pice in my TurboCad drawing program and save as DXF file. Import the drawing to my CamBam program and choose to use different tool for the finniching cut. I specfy tool no. 2and 3. Put the stock in the lathe and run the nc program made in CamBam and inported to Mach3Turn. All OK but the Mac3Turn do not stopp after the first cut (tool2) but moves on as tool 3 was monted without stopping so not to bee ble to change the tool. I tryed to put the tool info into the "ToolTable" without any difference.

I am using the same prosedure using my Mach3Mil - the mill always stop so I can change the tool when the program asks for it.
What am I doing wrong?

Thanks sivtek

General Mach Discussion / Calibrating in Mach3 lathe?
« on: June 22, 2011, 02:59:33 PM »
Hi.
I have just finished retro fitting cnc to my Myford super lathe. Every thing runs OK, but I am unable to calibrate the Z and X axis to bee accurate. I have managed to get them nearly correct by trial and error.
The lathe have imperial screws (8 and10 TPI), but I am working metric. The stepping motor is standard- 200 step pr turn and is micro stepped to 1600 steps. And the reduction from the motor to the screw is 1 to 2. Folloving the instruction in the manual I com up with this numbers: For the Z axes s 1007.874 and the X axis 1259.84252. Putting this number inn the box "Steps per" in the Motor Tuning dialog box do not give me the right movement of the saddle and slide. What am I doing wrong?
In Mach3 Mill there is a utility to set this number automatic, - is there something like this available for Lathe as well?
Hope some can help me out here. please.

Thanks
