General Mach Discussion / plasma probing routine
« on: April 07, 2011, 09:19:00 PM »
i cut a lot of hr steel , mostly 12 ga. to 16 ga. multiple parts nested to use all of sheet, sheet sizes 144x72. i have the z jog to +3 before moving to the next cut. then jog to +.5 to begin the probe for surface before firing the torch. it all works well except if the next cut is at a buckled area of the sheet. sometimes the sheet will oilcan up as much as 1 ". during the probing routine the torch will touch the sheet before it has moved to the commanded position of .5 above the sheet.when this happens mach goes into a loop and
stops movement. what i would like to happen is the torch is moving down rapidly, if encounters the sheet before .5 " retract 1 " and then attempt to probe again. is this possible? anyone tried it? would it require a brain, or a macropump?

are you using the same xp installation cd? did you purchase it  or download it ? some of the downloades versions install all sorts of crap without you realizing it. i use 1 called microxp. stripped down version is only 80meg.as long as you have a legal lic code i dont see why you could not run it. just dao a search  on google.

try switching to a different keyboard. maybe a key is stuck or a chip is lodged under a key. are you using a pokeys or keyboard emulator? i had a problem with pokeys doing strange things.

PoKeys / Re: problems with latest software
« on: February 21, 2011, 07:42:39 PM »
well Boris, thanks for your tip. however, tried it out on a netbook and had the same problem. the only common denominator is the pokeys or the software. is this the something that you refer to? both pc had the keyboards disabled. pokeys software flashes with no access to the menu buttons. is there an older release  of pokeys software available for download? or am i stuck with this latest version?

PoKeys / problems with latest software
« on: February 20, 2011, 08:43:16 PM »
i am using the latest software and firmware to setup my mill control panel. using screen 4 , i created my own hotkeys and have setup and loaded into the pokeys. this is where the problem starts. something is causing my keyboard to stop functioning. trying to click on a desktop shortcut just brings up shortcut properties. trying to start the pokeys software and changing the configuration , cannot access the menu. have to start in safe mode and system restore. have tried reinstalling the pokeys software same thing. i did a lathe panel like this 1 year ago with no problems. none of the switches is in the closed position.all have signal inverted.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Relay for TTL signals?
« on: October 25, 2010, 09:29:20 PM »
rutex thc. have had it for about 10 years. after changing to mach3, using the dc + - to switch relays to send signal to mach. gecko 212

stepper motor on z axis. the rutex would have worked okay by itself to a dc gearmotor, but tended to dive during cornering .

slow down the z axis. i have it set at 8 percent. unless you are using very uneven material, the response of the thc should be able to keep up.

something that might help. what are you using for referencing the z axis? are you using the probe for initial height for piercing? with a microswitch? if so i found that before the arc strikes the 2 wires going to the sensing switch need to be BOTH disconnected. i had to created a macro that enabled a relay for both wires before  probing. then after touching off disabling the 2 wires.
