General Mach Discussion / Re: Configuring Mach3 For Plasma
« on: January 23, 2012, 12:20:30 PM »
hi frequency start is going to be a bitch. what if the estop is disabled. by that i mean in ports and pins give it a setting of parralel port 0  or make it emulated?

you will have to find and tap into the trigger of the plasma torch if you are using a hand torch. since you say that you have assigned a pin for the torch on,for instance output 1, go to port and pins, spindle setup, and make sure disable spindle relay is unchecked. in the box beside labeled m3 enter your output number . in mill options check the box labeled allow thc .

from your discription, it seems to me that you are not getting arc ok signal. if your thc or plasma does not output a 5v ttl signal, then to work around that is connect a relay that closes when arc is started. attach the relay to an input  pin  and ground on the breakout board.

is the machine cutting speed fast? i had a similar problem with diagonal cuts with plasma at speeds over 240 ipm.the diagonal cuts were wavy .

its in cv mode.  the gcode for the outside is

g0z.7
g0x0y30.07

m3

g01x144.07 f200
y30 x0
y0
m5

g0z.7
m30

it will come to a stop on panels 72 in length and over. i am baffled. did not do this ever until 3 months ago. it is a foxconn atom board with onboard video. 1 g ram.

no nothing like that. just slows to a stop and then starts back up.

General Mach Discussion / random ramping to a stop .
« on: October 25, 2011, 12:04:01 PM »
i have a problem with mach randomly ramping to a stop in the middle of a gcode file. i cut panels 144x30 with holes and slots cut out. no problems with the holes but when the outside of the panel is cutting, mach will ramp to a stop randomly 4 - 5 times. i have changed the look ahead numbers but did not help. this is on a plasma cutter.cut speed 200 ipm. i tried turning off preview . did not help.

running out of memory? no other apps running besides mach and xp.

have you checked out the lcthc height controller from candcnc? 249.00 and comes with voltage sensor card. i just purchased and installled. works very well. and the price is reasonable.

i had a shopbot prt 48 x 96 . bought it in 1998. was the cable drive. changed to rack and pinion drive with geckos after a few years. software was easy to use . but the controller would poop out and lose connection frequently. switched to mach in 2008 and was pleased to note  a difference in motor smoothness.

General Mach Discussion / Re: G31 Probe problem
« on: August 04, 2011, 12:23:34 PM »
geez, i have been jinxed! never had a problem with the g31 until i read this thread. headed out to the machine to cut and what happened? mach  ignores the g31 at the start of the m3 macro and just fires the plasma torch. changed the g 31 to g28.1 and still happened. put the g28.1 into the gcode and works flawlessly. using the g28.1 also got rid of the ramping problems of the z axis probing. with the g31 could only probe at  40 ipm reliably. with g28.1 probing at 100 ipm.thanks for the info Br549.
