Motors are tuned good never had problem there. I'll explain - I am cutting acrylic, set z level to zero at top of matl. Then xy origin to lower left of matl. Start cutting and machine was cutting shallow. (must not set z height to exact matl height) So took z axis to 1.50 inch in MDI mode. Typed in a z level of 1.51 inches to make controller think zed level is higher. After doing this the digital read out would always show max z level depth shallow. The gcode had the correct depth of cut at 0.0625 inches but the DRO would always show actual cut depth at 0.0621 or 0.0619, depending on what part I was cutting out in the material stock. ( Stock: 0.0625 inch thick plexiglas - 36 inches wide X 48 inches long). I never notice this difference in the actual gcode depth to the DRO depth after doing an adjustment to the level. I did the same thing today on different thickness material, readouts were different than the gcode z depth. Thanks for all your help. Have a great day, MikeB

The DRO was showing a zed depth of 0.0621 and 0.0619 when it should have been 0.0625. I programmed in ArtCam Express to make one pass at 0.0625, simple code. Profiling cutting plexiglas for insert on doors. Z zero is at top of matl, cutting full depth of 0.0625, one pass, profiling. As mentioned the DRO was showing only 0.0621 or 0.0619. Is there a tolerance in Mach that I am missing?

This is a first for me, my z axis has not reached its programmed zed depth (gcode z level in the minus). I was cutting 0.0625 inch thick material cutting to full depth but Mach would only go to 0.0621 one time then 0.0619 another. Is there tolerances that I am missing somewhere. Like I had mentioned I have never experience this before.

That was it, G0 rapid moves,  every time I would generate code from VisualMill I would do all MOps in one code with tool changes. My machine does not have ATC but VM allows different tools in one code with tool change position. So when it comes to do the very last machining operation, perimeter, it will generate G0 rather than G1. Should have picked up on this been doing this kind of work for quite a few years - getting too relaxed with it.

I don't think it is a Mach problem with the speed changing. It has to do with VisualMill, I did not get answers from them, it only changes the feed and speeds on the final MOps which is perimeter pass. Perimeter pass speed is set at 50.0ipm but prior to that it has 100ipm but I removed that, did not help was cutting at full speed (1000ipm)

The code had the speed and feed that I had set for that specific tool. I ran another program generated from VisualMill again the tool ran faster than it was programmed to do. Never had problems with other CAM software. I will contact Mecsoft about this issue.

I was running a program with 3 tool changes. (CAM used VisualMill), everything was running great until the last tool change. Start cutting when cut speed tripled, cut speed set at 50ipm. Has anyone experience change of speeds?

Hi to all I am new to the forum but have been around CNC for quite a few years. I live in Iowa USA most my life, hobbies are woodworking, CNC machining, and my kids (7 total - 4 girls and 3 boys, can't leave out 2 grandkids) Needless to say I do not get bored to often. I have built 4 different machines in the last 7 years. I have been running Mach3 just a short time but find it user friendly and probably the best controller out there. I was using Turbocnc in the past - it worked great but I really like ArtSoft products! I  attach an image of my latest machine the design is a Sosylva modified to my specs. I had alot of fun building this one.

I hope this is in the right thread, but I was wondering about the CV settings in Mach. What would be the best settings, I am running a 3 axis Xylotex system on a home built machine. Also how far should the "read ahead" should be set? Thanks to all in advance.
