Weird- the manual and the video says that you should be able to tweak your acceleration and velocity and test by using the cursor keys.  I have to close the tuning window to get the motors to move.  It's not really a big deal I just have to do some extra clciking but, I was wondering if this is happening just to me or is it everyone noticing this?

Could it be because my computer is an old P.O.S.?

General Mach Discussion / Missing Steps or is it something else? Help!
« on: February 22, 2006, 01:51:25 AM »
I'm (trying) to run a real simple G-Code of a rectangle.  I put my part in the jig, get my work offset and make my first cut- everything seems fine.  I have about 60 of the same parts to cut so, I want to be sure they will all be the same so, I try to run the code again (on the part I just cut) and the X & Y axis have shifted (I would say about .125") to the negative axis.  In other words, I am now cutting too much on 2 sides of the rectangle (and not enough on the other 2 sides (I hope that makes sense).

At first I thought there was something funky with my code- so I checked and rechecked but, I don't think that's it (it's a frigging rectangle, there's not that much I can screw up).  I've tried re-referencing to Mach Coord Zero but, that didn't help.  It's the same story every time.  First cut is OK, then things start shifting.

The motors don't sound like they are missing steps but, with the router runing I could just not be hearing it?

Anybody have any ideas on what might cause this?  Thanks in advance!

General Mach Discussion / Jogging with a Joystick

Has this feature been disabled in Mach 3?  I can't seem to find any "Joystick enable" button as the instruction manual indicates. ???

Hey all,

Some of my questions seem so lame I'm almost embarrassed to ask.  Thanks in advance for your patience.

Question... What piece of hardware interfaces with my driver board/Mach 3 will control the speed of my spindle?

FYI- my spindle is a Porter-Cable Router.  I have been using (please don't laugh too hard) this little Barney McGee potentiometer speed controller between the relay output and the router :o.  After seeing that Mach has the capabilty to control spindle speed, I feel like a Caveman who has just been shown fire.

Could someone please describe what I should do to interface my Router?  Thanks much!

General Mach Discussion / Which version to choose M2,M3 or M4 ??
« on: November 19, 2005, 10:23:24 PM »
Hey all,

Being new to the world of "Mach" I have been trying (without success) to find comparitive info on the pros and cons of the different versions.

Can anyone please elaborate on the differences and which might be more appropriate for a "homemade" 60"x60" CNC router for cutting urethane foam.

Thanks!
