SmoothStepper USB / crazy outputs from simple code.
« on: March 26, 2009, 03:56:07 AM »
I am trying to retune tune my drives (dc servos) since converting from P.P. I have 1 drive running at full speed now but still have a problem.
To tune, I use the following piece of code to save manually jogging back and forth.

F3000
G01 x50
x0
x50
x0
x50
x0

The problem is if I run this code with NO FRO. i.e. 100%, it will travel at 2300ish mm/min for all but the last line of code! for which it runs as instructed at 3000 mm/min?????

Any help pleeeease.

Cheers,
James

You hit the nail on the head I set that to 45 khz as I normally did.
I will try 25 and a few other values and get back to you.

General Mach Discussion / Whats in the near future??
« on: March 16, 2009, 04:17:15 AM »
I have been away for a couple of months now and have done some searching around for Quantum and where its at.
It seems that there is not much happening there.

I was wondering if anyone of the many great people in the mach 3 team could give us a bit of a summary as to where things are at in general with mach 3 and the 3rd Order planner that was to be in quantum?

Maybe there could be a "comming soon" notice board for people in the know, to post where you are at?

Cheers,
James

I have just reinstalled the .042 version. I see now what you are saying about the feed rate being actual not theoretical.
I checked the FRO with the rapid g00 and when set to 50% is feeds at 50% as expected.
I never lowered the FRO when testing on the mill that I can remember!, so I will have to re-test on actual machine and get back to you.

I am also using smooth stepper, this wouldn't have any thing to do with it would it?

Thanks forthe help.
James.

Yes, only one axis at a time.

I have tried this on 3 different computers all with same result???
One of the computers is a high end gaming machine!

There is also an issue with the value being out by a factor of 5x. I had to set the max vel to 5000mm/min to get 1000 on the dro and real life on the machine?

James.

I have a problem with the units/min dro not reeding what it should!
I am re-tuning my drives and have set the max velocity to 1000mm/min.
when I jog at 100% it reads 992-995 mm/min, but if I type G00 X100 it runs at 1750 ish mm/min. (shouldn't that be impossible?, faster that set max?)
I upgraded to the latest lockdown version but no change? I then rolled back to 2.56 (oldest thing I have) and all is fine ????
All on original screens.

Any one else having this issue?

Cheers,
James.

I am having major crashing issues, and when switching from screen to screen I get the graphics window of the previous screen remains over the top.
Also going in and out of a wizzard, leaves things behind from the previous screen, and no gcode but it will still run if it doesn't crash.

I am running the following.
AMD 3500 athalon
2GB ddr2 600mhz ram
2 x 160gb westerndigital caviar HD
geforce 5700 gts graphics
(a gaming computer 1.5 - 2 yrs old) A bit overkill, but its what I had.

It is completely bare only mach 3, and all the optimising is done.
I have just changed to mach 3.?? developers in the hop it might fix it, updated to flash player 9 etc.
I set my publish settings as per Scott's

I am not totally proficient with flash, only really enough to add buttons and modify a slider's looks, call VB scrip text etc.
My screen is really just a slight modification of Jason's mach nation screen as he helped me get started (thanks again Jason).
I am thinking of starting from scratch and build a new screen, but my fear is that after a heap of work (and a lot more learning), my stability issues will remain !

Any flash screen I use mine or others suffer from the same things.

Any help would be great!

Cheers,
James.

Mach Screens / Re: On screen keyboard help?
« on: November 06, 2006, 02:37:41 PM »
thanks zealous,

I am still building the machine at present, maybe 4 more weeks before power goes on so no immediate rush, those Flash screens look the way to go in future. I know very little about programing and compilers, but am keen to learn more.
The touch screen should arrive next week, I just want to be prepaired.

Cheers,
James.

Mach Screens / On screen keyboard help?
« on: November 05, 2006, 10:42:50 PM »
My intensions are to make a new MDI screen with large keyboard buttons for use with my touch screen LCD monitor.
I do not intend on having a keyboard or mouse by my mill, only a screen and somewhere to hang my pendant.
I have been reading the threads for keyboards and touch screens, it seems there is a solution with that on screen keyboard, however I would be much happier if I could design my own keyboard in mach3 directly.

Is this possible yet or is someone working on something?
I have tried to add buttions in screen4, but when used in mach to enter a single line of code into the MDI line, pressing that button exits the MDI line.

Cheers,
James.
