General Mach Discussion / Re: Configure Homing Switches
« on: November 21, 2006, 09:53:26 PM »
We are still having a problem with the limit switches being broken when the axis go to home, they just stop and appear to not back off the switches and require us to manually move the axis from the switches to let us run a program. We are using the limits as the home position and limits. when the switches are tripped they initiate an EStop. I think we are not set up correctly up and do not know what the best solution is. I read the section on the soft limits but cannot realy understand how this setup is implemented. Can order and install optical or prox switches but will take time to order and install. We need to be able to continue running until the switches can be replaced.

U-r right I had the description wrong. So if We use the post processor from Mach3 and transfer the setup for the machine, we shpuld be able to run MAch3? correct...TNX

We are using BobCad/BobCam, BobCam does not have a post processor for this machine. We can try the transfer of the post/p to Mach3 and see if it works. The post/p is an XML file.

Will the post proccessor used in MAch2 work in Mach3? If not Why? We are waiting for the newer one to upgrade to Mach3.

Got into the motor tuning setup and changed the settings, have running speeded up, took a few tries to get what we need.  Once into the setup it starts to make sense.......  Now if we can get the limit switches working.....TNX Guys

General Mach Discussion / Configure Homing Switches
« on: November 20, 2006, 02:05:28 PM »
We are having trouble with homing switch failures due to overtravel before the axis backs off. Have reset the homing speed to 10% . Would like to know if there is a way to set the backoff distance from the limit switch when the switch is actvated. The manual section 5.7.1.1 itells how but have not been able to stop the axis hitting the limit switches and causing failure due to overtravel. the switches are small  microswitches with a lever arm as the actuator...TNX

General Mach Discussion / Re: Setting feed rates

We are running Mach2 ( Waiting for Mach3 postprocessor from the machine builder) The G code is from BobCad/ Via BobCam, the speed can also be set in the CAd program. We usually have to modify the preamble as some of the G code lines are not correct.  The motor tuning directions are not completely clear in setting up our machine (CNC Shark) TNX

General Mach Discussion / Setting feed rates
« on: November 19, 2006, 11:36:53 PM »
In the Mach2Mill manual 6.2.5 RE: feed control family the the first part 6.2.5.1 states' using the F DRO speed as actual rate" but the speed rate will be less than the DRO setting if the maximum permitted speed is set. Where is the maximum speed set? If the setup in the feed control family is set (figure 6.7) as the units/min set to 1.00. does this mean the feed rate will be 60IPM? Subsequently if we put a F 200 in a G program line will it default bake to the 60IPM when runing the program?  We have this problem and are not sure how to correct. It appears that the  Feed Override (6.2.5.4) G code could be used but it would require care to not exceed the required cutting speed.

I guess what we could do to start at the stopped position is to edit the preamble and step to the lines about where the program stopped. Also ie it true that mach2 does not like line numbers? We are writting our G code from BobCad/BobCad and always have to edit the preamble to make the program run. I suspect it may be in the post.  We have only been with the programs and machine for 2 weeks, we are trying to make a setup for the programmer and the machine operator(me) TNX
