General Mach Discussion / No screen adjustment after feed hold
« on: February 24, 2010, 02:22:08 PM »
I just updated to the newest lockdown version of Mach. When I am running a program and hit feed hold then move the  axis's from the current position, then when I hit cycle start again I am no longer getting the screen that usually would pop up before the axis move back to the position in the program.  I looked and I don't know what setting I am looking for, or if this is a bug.

Thanks
Tom

General Mach Discussion / Newbie need help with Lathe
« on: May 01, 2009, 10:55:26 PM »
I am just starting out with lathe.  I have bobcad 23 lathe cam. Is there is anyone out there that could post a bobcad lathe file, for output to mach so I can learn from it.  I have created a test file in bobcad and posted it in a mach post but when I load into machturn I can see some of the tool path but where ever there are arcs the screen has a bunch of circles. I am not sure of what I have setup wrong.  My code is outputting I,K for arcs, I also tried with r arcs, same thing. Can anyone please point me in the right direction to get this figured out. I have in closed a copy of the g-code.

Thanks
Tom

Thanks, Peter.  I think I will mount it in the controller, not on the lathe itself, I think it will be easier that way. Please advise on what setup would be best.  Also are there "novice' Wiring Diagrams for the hookup that I can look at?
Thanks,
Tom

Peter,
I was just looking at your website. I think that the DC-02 is the way that I want to go.  Can you tell me what options would be best for me, the lathe that I have is a Clarke 7x12 Mini lathe. I used the the Ron Steele CNC conversion Instructions and ordered the recommended proximity sensor from Euro Spec #is12-y4-n-oc. I just want to be sure that I will not run into any problems with the wiring. Also I plan on using the Smooth Stepper, will that be any problem?

I also think that I want to use the existing manual speed contron knob, and the dc-dc converter, also the led not on the board.  What do you think would be best, you know allot more than me.

Thanks,
Tom

Thanks for the input. I think I will try the Homann board, and see if I can figure out how to make that work.

I am looking for advice on what hardware and wiring needed  to begin to use spindle speed control on my converted  CNC Mini Lathe.  What boards can anyone suggest, and if you could point me in the direction to find out how to wire the lathe, it does have a variable speed control knob on it.

Thanks for any help you can give.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Can input led's stay on after e-stop
« on: March 25, 2009, 05:00:23 PM »
Thanks for the reply's, Yes I do have the switches to individual pins.  It's not really that important for the led's to stay on, it really only takes a little bit to figure out which switch is causing the problem.  I was just hoping that there was a setting that would keep the led lit. I will jst have to keep doing it that same as I have been. Again thanks for your reply's.

Thanks Hood,
but what is happening is that if one of my limit switches is going bad the will trigger an e-stop due to the vibration of the router. What I was hoping is that if I get a random e-stop error due to vibration, that the led from the fault would stay active until the machine is Reset.

Thanks,
Tom

General Mach Discussion / Can input led's stay on after e-stop

I was wondering if it is possible to have led's in the diagnostics stay lit after and external e-stop from any of the limit switches or any other led's causing the e-stop. It would make trouble shooting when I have a problem easier if they would stay on till I manually clear them.

Thanks,
Tom

Thanks Hood,  I just now got around to setting it up and it worked like a charm.

Thanks again
Tom
