General Mach Discussion / Re: Tool measure macro
« on: March 06, 2007, 07:35:01 PM »
On the measured value error, if you come at the switch at the same feedrate each time, wouldn't it be consistent enough that if you included a 'Switch Error' DRO or hard code that error in the macro so that it could then be subtracted from the new position.

I use a Z zero touch off plate that measures 0.3125" but I have to fool Mach with a value of 0.3040" and it's always on the mark.

Do these switches have a +/- tolerance that may cause the problem?

Just a thought, I've never dealt with one before.

The SystemWaitFor (Start) does appear to work.  It didn't on my office/design computer, but does at the machine.

Basically, I'm reworking a 'tool measure/change' macro for another guy and before it does the long slow G31 plunges, I'd like to pause the macro at a certain point, allow them to quickly jog the Z axis down into position manually, then return control to the macro.

If actual G-code was generated (as with Open/Close/Load teach file), then the M01 or M0 would work, but I'm just having it execute with a button push at the moment (like the Ref All and other buttons).

Thanks,

A SystemWaitFor (Start) will pause the execution of the macro, but I can't jog an axis then.

It states that "This allows interfacing with physical controls on the machine". That must not mean Mach3 controls.   ???

Thanks Scott,

I'm away from the machine at the moment, but I'll give that a try.

Just for fun, I tried issuing a "M01" in a macro to see if I could then 'Cycle Start' to resume and it doesn't stop, it just keeps executing the macro.   ???

Is it possible to pause a macro and manually move a axis (Z for example) and then resume execution of the macro?

Thanks,

Cool stuff  ;)

I tried it in Mach (v053) and I get to see it for a few seconds and then it gets covered up with either a smaller black screen or a light blue screen with a G-code list.

I have the latest Flash.  AMD AthlonXP 2500+, 512mb ram.

Ok,  this seems to imply that Screen4 can't be used to develop add-ons.  Or at least,  I can't see how it would be possible.

It can, but you have to have the images in the bitmap folder while working on an add-on/wizard and also in the respective add-on folder or you can't see what you're doing.  ???

See this thread.....http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?topic=1895.0

Hi Stan,

The folder of bitmaps needs to be put in the Mach3\bitmaps folder and the .set file in the root Mach3 folder.  Also, Screen4 needs to know where the the Mach3 folder is by going to Defaults/Mach Location.

I purposely placed the background at 5,5 just to give a black border around it when Mach3 is running.  Whenever I open it in Screen4, I choose 'Custom' and leave it at 1280 x 1024.  The screen itself is 1100 x 800 to give me the space I needed and give a nice size when used on a 17" LCD at 1280 x 1024.  I run it with 'Auto Screen Enlarge' off in Mach3 'General Config' for best appearance and I can get at the desktop for other stuff quicker. If you run it with auto screen enlarge on and maximize it, the graphics get fuzzy (as with any other screenset).
