General Mach Discussion / Re: Display Spindle load VFD in Mach3?
« on: December 13, 2007, 04:17:09 PM »
just spend 2 hours reading what Modus is...
I can say that I don't have one! sure want one!
On the VFD is no RS485 , so the only think to do using a modbus with analog input card.

a pitty.. I have 3 LPT ports in my PC I can use, and still have left over inputs, which it would be so simple I could just use one of those

Att: KTM

I wouldn't know....
I've connected the ABB VFD to my PC using an opto isolated LPT card. Speed is controlled with a index signal.
On my VFD I have a mA signal on the analog output witch corresponds to the drawn Amps by the spindle motor.

I'm not sure how to (if it is possible) bring this signal back to my pc and display it in Mach3

Hi,

anyone got an Idea if it's possible to display the analog output signal of my VFD in the mach screen? (Amp measurement of the VFD)
This way you can have a cool "spindle load meter"  on the screen!

Hi Greg,

I downloaded the latest plugin from the website 13th november with the 2.58 version..no luck..innner wheels don't work.
I downgraded it to 2.00.014 and everything works o.k.
So I think the plugin isn't compatable with the 2.58 version?

In the new version you can set the pullley ratio under config-pulley, so I can influence the spindle rpm displayed in the screen. Does anyone know how to change this in the old versions?

Hope they fix the plugin!

to Marc: Marc, I have no doubts about buyin the shuttle pro, I would do it again! (Also kaufen dass Gerat!)

regards,
Aryan

Hi,

I seem to have the same problem with my shuttlepro, since the 2.58 update.
The inner and outer ring don't work correctly.
When I turn the inner ring it will start jogging very slowly the selected axis in the positive direction, doesn't matter wich direction I turn the ring, it will always go positive. It will only stop when pressing ESC. The outer ring doesn't work on anything anymore...
Never had this problem before the update.

General Mach Discussion / Contour Shuttle and rel. 2.009
« on: November 13, 2006, 03:20:16 PM »
Hi,

Perhaps it's only with my installation but after updating from 2.003 to 2.009 the feed++ /-- and inner knob of the shuttle pro stoped working.
Do I need to alter some settings for rel. 2.009?

Following I downgraded to rel. 2.003 and everything worked fine again....

General Mach Discussion / Re: Using a Contour Design Shuffle as a pendant
« on: October 24, 2006, 04:58:19 PM »
Hello Brian,

first time when you startup Mach (after restart pc) the inner ring of the Shuttle is in vel. -mode. I think this is very dangerous because when you want to tought the workpiece (without first pressing the vel/inc button) the tool will break..:=)
Is there a option to set the Shuttle so that the button is always in inc.-mode after a restart of mach?

rgds,
Adryan

I set up the two outer buttons (the black ones) to be rapid and the otter dial set to about 20% slow jog and the center as inc at .001. this makes for VERY fast movement and positioning.

Brian,
I think I'm not exactly clear on what you mean. I used the Rapid ++ and Rapid -- for the black buttons, this works great for rapid movement.
I've set up the jog panel (using TAB in Mach) as following:
-"STEP"
-"Steprate" 0.001
-"Slow jog rate" 5%

When using this the STEP 0.001 only works for the arrow buttons on the keyboard (pressing arrow ones moves 0.001)
When dialing the inner silver button of the Shuffle it moves a lot more then 0.001 and doesn't stop immediately when stop dialing.

Am I missing something? (I assume you mean the "step" mode when you mention "inc"?)

regards,
Adryan
