LazyCam (Beta) / Re: parmeter and create file in turn
« on: September 21, 2008, 10:08:37 PM »
alex850,
You click the PROJECT & INFO buttons on the top bar to turn the windows on and off. To get the create profile section to be in the window, just grab the bottom of the window and pull down some. the windows work very similar to
manipulating a window in Windows XP / 2000 / etc . You can make them tall or thin or as you already know fill the whole page. One of the videos talks about the windows in Lazycam.

alex850,
Here is a link that will give you some info on using Lazycam for the lathe.
The first section should answer a lot of  questions.

Kryten,
There is an "empty box" next to the minimize box. Double clip the "empty box". This will bring the tabbed menu which contains TURN, PROCESS etc tabs. onto the screen area now you can resize it. Moving the screens seems to be a little
finiky.

LazyCam (Beta) / Re: UNRECOVERABLE ERROR MESSAGE
« on: September 21, 2008, 12:58:28 PM »
TO ALL,
Quote
Are there any know combinations in particular or parameter settings inclusive of tool settings which would logicaly
trigger it?
Once it happens it can be a real pain to get lazcam to create profiles again without gettinig the error message.
Is there an easy way to "reset" lazycam so it works

To get it working again, answer no at the prompt to continue, go back into Lazycam and change the tool settings and parameters.
Then exit out and come back into Lazycam.

LazyCam (Beta) / Re: Can lazycam turn?

Lazycam can import a dxf file.
There is no "official" manual for Lazycam. You will find information on Lazycam for turning only in the
SUPPORT / MEMBERS BOX.

It's really fun to learn. ;D

Here is the link to it:

ED,
The import and then draw over the image in Autocad works great and realy comes in handy. Also once you have the drawing made you can size it to whatever you want to just fit wherever you want the engraving done. Try these out;
like take a high resolution digital picture of something taking an accurate X & Y  dimension at a fine point then resize the image in CAD to actual size, same goes for say a microscope picture ( you can get acturate dim's to .0001" depends on resolution and when it starts to pixilate), try taking a picture using zoom  lens ( done this for doing piping tie-ins in the field just need a reference to something. When you take a picture or even scan an object focus and scan about the center.
Possibilities are endless.

You can do this and draw over it and generate the GCODE quicker than any of the so called raster to vector conversion junk ( they are all crap ) out there! Just make sure you are snapping to all the end points / they are connected, and DO NOT LEAVE A LITTLE DOT ON THE DRAWING OUT IN SPACE.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Motors won't turn
« on: September 20, 2008, 08:07:40 AM »
DANG,
Are you sure the motors are wired correctly? They shouldn't get "hot quickly".
If you can't keep your hand on them they are at or over 140deg F.
If there is a smell present absolutely to much current to them.
Check things out since if they short you could blow a drive.

To All,
One of the frustrating parts of Lazcam turn is defining settings for the rough & finish tools  and  additionaly the parameters in terms of how they relate to the cutting of the profile. One of the easiest ways to get a good flavor of the relationship is to import a drawing like the attached. Now  try different settings for  the different tools / parameters, create profile , see the effects on cutting / OOPS back- try somemore settings ect..

Since the attached file has all common values of 1" it's easy to review the GCODE moves as they relate to the profile when posted into MACH.
Will post a little something on this as a few pitcures are worth a thousand words.

Dennis,
Here is a test you may want try to see if you want to spend some more $.
Just sketch something up and see if you can just use the wizards or maybe Lazycam ( Kristen can help you  ;D (couldn't resist Kristen :-*)
or whatever to do what you want. So your working manualy but also using the advanatages of wizards to do the hard stuff
( like milling a circle manualy). Then see if the add-ins will add to that and are worth the value for you.
Just some thoughts,
RICH
