chessie,

Found my notes on index debounce and will post some info for your use ( I just don't keep all this stuff in the cloud
above my head anymore ). ;)

Try a higher number for the debounce.  I use 10, some can use a lower number, yet others have needed to increase it.
Just depends on the signal. If the rpm is fluctuating too much Mach will sit there a long time waiting to get a consistent rpm.

At higher rpm's the DRO can't update fast enough to shows the rpm for each time an index is sensed.

You rpm should be within say 1 rpm under no load at spindle. I use a Halls affect sensor along with small magnet and works a treat.

Try this......... dry run with  a few different rpms settings for threading and leave the index setting at 10. Say 50/100/200 etc and see if the thread path will start. Some sensors are  not good at higher spindle rpm,s .

As to quality of signal one can view with an O'scope but most don't have one.

chessie,

Mach is monitoring the spindle rpm, and will allow the Z axis to start the thread path, once Mach is satisfied that an amount of  index signals received are appropriate.

Adjust the Index Debounce  in General Logic Configuration. See Figure 7.1.4 in Threading On the Lathe write up.

LC is an importer of  ver 12 DXF files. How it does with other formats on importing I can't really say.

Take  look at attached pic which is a backplot of your gcode posted into CAD.
You will see gaps on many of the text lines where they should terminate or join together.
For text that is not so good as you can see in red some of the pathing  that is actualy being made.
There is a manual for LC and these kinds of comments are covered.

Also note that zero Y is 5.3750 and not 5.355.
Not sure that Corel Draw is an actual a vector drawing program.
The letters on the right were enlarged in CAD.

FWIW,

Without the "box" you assign an input pin in Mach for the probe. When the probe makes contact with a metal circuit it act's as a switch and the circuit is completed.

I just don't  bother with the Chinese stuff at all so can't help relative to the 6040.
You will need to read the manual if a probe connection is available.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Machining relief problems

Im using a small Chinese cnc machine and I don't have any trouble engraving shapes and text.

May be true, but when doing 3 axis moves with numerous small axis moves, you really need
to have steppers that can provide the accel necessary. The stepper can skip and you would
not even know it, the dro will show correctly but the actual postition will be wrong. the skipping
may be repeatable or ramdom depending on the gcode your doing.

From reply #8, you ran the following code and there was no Z problem.
You tested for a Z move of 5 mm ( .197")

M98 P123 L100
M30

O123
G90 G1 Z-5 F250
G1 Z0
M99
%

A look at the gcode you posted shows small Z moves approx range from
say .003mm to .050 ( .00011" to .002" ) for example.

I would suggest you see what the machine can do at the feedrate your calling,BUT,
test at Z distances of 4,3,2,1,.5,.1 mm's etc. You may want to just jog those distances and see
what a indicator shows. You will not move .0001" accurately as that is theoretical resolution
of your axis. If you have backlash, and you do, machining of small moves accurately just dosen't work well!

Test with only the Z, down only, then down and up and down movement and if that test is good,
add X & Y moves and test again. BTW, may want to add a pause using G4 so you can do a measurement
post move. Let us know how things go.

Roger,
Appreciate the offer and will take you up on it. Maybe Greg can also join in on the effort.
The intent of the update will be to cover a 9 year span of time in a way that is strictly focused on lathe threading using
Mach3 and 4  as the software along with currently available external controllers and breakout boards and other
related threading aids so that a Mach  user has additional basics.

Hopefully the above statement reduces required effort to get it done, and will say, that  the appendix will not be a
book nor a replacement for lack of  vendor information on use of their product.

Roger,
Current thoughts are to do an Appendix to the Threading on the Lathe Manual.
Getting some thoughts together on just what it should include.

General Mach Discussion / Re: OD TAPER WIZARD PROBLEM.. NEED HELP PLEASE
« on: August 14, 2019, 10:17:33 AM »
mpix00,

Attached PDF should answer questions relative to the OD taper wizard. Yes they can be confusing.

MODIFIED: ADDED THE COMMENT BELOW

In the drawing of the taper, Figure 1 of the attached pdf, the angles SHOULD BE 5.066 degrees and 10.1320 degrees.
They are the values you should use in the wizard and not 5 & 10 deg. The degrees were rounded in CAD. Sorry about that. :-[

You have posted in two different threads for the same / similar request for help  relative to using a
taper wizard and that leads to confusion. Thus the replies may differ since there is a taper turning wizard
in the Turning wizard used  with the  generic lathe screen set and then you have one in NFS Turn.
Thus different wizards and inputs are similar but different.

So in my reply, yet to be posted, will assume the following:
- Using the generic 1024 lset for the lathe
- Using the Turning / Lathe Turning Wizards by Brian / Kiran (OD Taper)
- You will be using imperial units

Have not used that wizard in a long time and post a write up for you.
