MIKE,
I'll post a little tutorial for you and also a dxf file for turning a 1" diameter down to 1/2" dia for length of 1" .
Need my coffee first!

Repost your dxf it has "0" for size.
Also in the tap file, which will run after if you editing it to add a ")" after the year.
Coments in gcode require (******************xx).

Looks nice Dave. Vcarve seems to be serving you well. Maybe you want to make another sign
which reads "NOW LOOK WHAT WE GOT".  ;)

Here is something you can fool with.
Pick up a small tube of say "burnt amber"  artist oil paint at a hobby store. You can thin the  paste out using  lacquer thinner.
apply / rub to any part and shade to suite to your desire. A good product in a spray can for sealing is "DEFT".
Since it's lacquer based, dries very fast, can make it dead flat with built up coats, you can also vary sheen from very high gloss to matt finish, IS REPAIRABLE.
A light coating of shellac can seal grain and allow for drying in the soft or end grain and sands out easly allowing for control of staining.
Just a few tips for they are worth from custom gun stock making.

Just echo what Hood has posted. Easy to get to some tolerance then the "system " comes into play with
each part, mechanical and electrical, even the indicator, possibly having an influence.
Be meticulous.

There are a number of posts made in the FAQ thread relating to computers.
We scan the spectrum of functioning pc's from 400mhz / 512 memory to 3 ghz /2 gig memory here.
They all work. The pc should be dedicated to cnc. As noted, you just have to try it always starting with the
driver test.

Mike,
There is no info on Lazyturn other than the postings, but, it is easier then Lazycam Turn and intuitive.
So it won't take you long to be able to get roughing results out of it, even for complex profiles.
LazyTurn, as of this time, will not give you profile cuts where Lazycam Turn will. So in the interim, if you want finish
profile gcode you are going to need something else to provide them. The wizards can be used for a complex profile
but you need to piece meal it together.
Learnings / familarization from Lazycam Turn will help you, to some degree, with the Mill side in Lazycam.

Code out of LC Turn does produce some unwanted code, and as lightly noted in the manuals, you need to pay attention.

Please post your DXF's. I makes helping you easier on my side.

As far as placing lines on the profile in Lazycam Turn:
I suggest you create a dxf representing only the part of the profile you want, generate the code, and cut/paste/edit.
You can play around with addional lines on the profile but i can't give you any guidelines on what to expect.
You can manipulate the profile in the PROJECT down at the chain level, but,.....just how much fun do you want to have ?.

ART,
Here is a to TODO for Chip's Arc.3 dxf in reply #514. Only got it about 5 times out of 20 imports of the file.
Maybe you can shed some light on the last few posts. For the most part we have provided some type of line
or curve which provides for an x&y in the profile. Not any negative starting profiles even if in the correct
quadrant.

OK Chip,
F,E,D work here also.
Now C is still a challenge as to posting of roughs. Yes it will do a diagnostic output and also a limited posting if a z start offset offset is used as you have already shown. Redrew it so don't think it's anything on to do with our CAD stuff. Started trying some of the different rules i posted in post #474, but, maybe you found another one to be added to the list ( not sure what it is yet). I don't get any errors when importing C into ACAD 2007. I don't know why and need to get into work to try Microstation XML.

I can get C in Lazyturn to work but requires at least some kind of attached line ( even a horizontal one only 0.0001" long). Didn't go back to earlier versions to see if they would generate roughs. There are a lot of combinations you can come with in checking this out.

CHIP,
I don't think that that Lazyturn is the problem with arc.3.dxf. I had problems with the file in all versions of Autocad and three versions of Microstation. I attached one of the error messages from autocad. Even if it was read, still couldn't save it to a usable form for import by Lazyturn.
