A little off post here, but just need to say, XBOX360.....really nice, and can function like you have three hands on three MPG's!

General Mach Discussion / Re: Cutter comp fixed yet?

The cutter compensation should follow what is written in CNC Programing Techniques written by
Peter Smid. Just thought i would mention the above for you info.

FAQs / Re: Pulsing too fast
« on: March 10, 2009, 05:27:11 PM »
ALAX 11,
Don't know what to tell you. Surely someone else will chime in that has maybe seen "PULSING TO0 FAST" and can give you specific information. Don't recall any posting like yours since i have been following the postings.

Is the pc a dedicated one for use with Mach?
Have you tried optimizing it?
Do you have any software, anti-virus, QuickTime, etc on the PC?
What Mach Version are you using?

As far as Mach having many problems,....there are thousands of users who don't have "many problems"
and make a living based on using it.

General Mach Discussion / Re: My CNC build
« on: March 09, 2009, 07:29:26 AM »
Lots of things to cover so will rermark at a high level.
Your voltage should be 4 to 20x motor voltage with enough amperage for all the motors.
Take a look at the motor curve for the motors you have and see where you are on the
torque to speed curve as that will give you an idea of just what kind of torque your getting out of them.
As speed increases the torque will decrease and power which is what your interested in will be max
around 1/2 speed and 1/2 torque approx so that gives you another ballpark on where to run them.
If that dosen't satisfy requirements for your desired speed and power / torque then you need to review
the whole system, which you should have done in the first place, and see what if anything you should do.
The driive train works as a "system", so the weakest link in it can have a big effect. The mechanics of the system
defines system rerquirements. You can analyze your requirements via software from major manufactures
if you so desire, but using practical considerations as compared to similar equipment has great value.

With the above in mind just simply reduce your speed and acceleration and test the axis requiring the most torque
and gradualy work your way up until you start to skip steps. Back off say 30% and see what you  have in terms
of speed. If that is not satisfactory then you need to increase the powere supply to the motors within the capabilites of your drives / board / system. 420 in/oz motors got a lot of torque.

So it is difficult to make anymore specific / usefull comments without addiitional info on the mechanics of your system.

General Mach Discussion / Re: General Q about kernel freq "noise"
« on: March 09, 2009, 06:37:29 AM »
Suggest you have a look at the pulse signal with a scope and see what it looks like coming out of the PP.
If you have noise or another signal signal beng mixed in with the pulse you need to eliminate it at the source
as nothing downstream of it like filteriing etc is going to cure it.
One option wouuld be to use the SmoothStepper if your not succes full.

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: New version of CopyCat, V1.1
« on: March 08, 2009, 08:55:41 PM »
I have updated and reposted Copycat Manual Rev 0 in the members docs.

The manual is complete in the sense that all the appendixes are now included.
The manual will not be revised any time soon, in the future yes, but for now I think it has enough information to get someone trying CopyCat up and running.

What Kernel Speed are you using? In Mach CONFIG>PORTS&PINS try 25000hz

BTW, If your so inclinded, there are postings which analyze the thermodynamics of the miser.
The analyzation was at a rather high level if memory serves me. Some college posted it.
Just adds another dimension to a project.

Vince,
To hold a piece of thin metal there are a few tricks that you can do.
Double backed carpet tape will hold it to a flat piece of wood or sacrificial plate. Another way is expoy
glue it to the plate ( Dabs and use a little heat to soften up the epxoy). Just need to be carefull
when removing  the thin plate from the other. Very light cuts also.
Works for me,
