Hi John,
May be all wet but here are a few things you may want to try.
I echo what Marcel posted.
Try leaving a little more stock to be left in the rough cuts and do more than one finishing cut.
You may also try a different tool tip, one that shears / peals off the wood instead of scraping. Similar to doing the turning manualy on a wood lathe. High clearance and rake, razor sharp, depends on the wood. Also can try doing two at a time by glueing two halfs together with a piece of paper between and splitting them thus you get continuity of the cut around the profile.
Like i said, may be all wet, just some thoughts, been a long time since i did wood turning.

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: cad-cam purchase?

Suggest you try out the wizards available with MACH. There is a listing of them in Members Docs. Then try some programs like CAM-BAM or whatever and see what seems to work for you. This may sharpen your quest for what you want out of a program.  And free is certainly one to consider!

Here is a sine plate that was made from precision ground stock.
The top table is 6" wide x 8" long ( nice size ). I picked up all the pieces from someone at the
York Model Show . All I had to do was drill and tap some 60 holes, do some milling and
turning work, and assemble and allign it. Now I know why they cost so much!

This piece will be used for doing light milling work on models.
The table rotates under .001" across the face at any angle (which supprised me)
based on allignment of the front plate edges to the milling table. It lays flat within
.0005". Center to center of the rolls are 5.001" and an angle setting is within 20 seconds or so.
You don't use these too often but surely come in handy when you  need it.
It's no Suburban but beats two of the cheap tilt tables I have by a mile.
Not bad for $25 and a 12 hours worth of work. Guess I'll add it to the other 700# of stuff
holding down the floor!  ;)

ART,
If i made a multi-slot disc would one of the slots need to be bigger and the width basis for the others still the same as a sindgle slot????

General Mach Discussion / Re: Muti-start threading....

May be wrong, but if the thread code for length was the same, then each cut  would finish longer after the first thread, by the pitch / lead, because the Z start point is changing the start point. The nut would be the same thus you need not change anything on the end.

May i ask why you are doing a mut-i-start thread?

Hi Greg and Klaus,
I liked the plug in Klaus provided with the features provided, but,........
I found it didn't work with CopyCAT and the XBOX for reasons you have mentioned.
Maybe i was doing something wrong.

ART,
Here are some screen shots using the driver test's.
The file name indicates which is which, namely, Normal Install and Reply 226 driver test.

CHIP,
Thanks for the file posting. Don't know if  I'll get a chance to try them today.
