Here is the link. About everything I know and can't remember is in that manual.  :)

This just a rounding issue with the display of the axis DRO and the fact that you have a low step resolution.
Echo the above.....

Millmaster, Step and direction, no encoders, just plain Jane machines here.

I know how you feel  :o as i gave been playing around with the an indexer / rotary and when it shows some fraction of 45 deg like 44.9987 it becomes an motional issue..........practicaly it's meaningless....but wanted  to have more exact display so bumped the gearing and now I am non-emotional.  ::) But it's still may be meaningless depending on what your doing with it.  ;)

Off to the sideline,

General Mach Discussion / Re: USB and Mach

The SS is about the best option out there for USB and Mach that i know of. Has a few limitations like Jeff mentioned.

Have you taken a look at Tutorial #4 in the LazyCam Manual on text?

Your steps per unit are 10000, so if all was perfect ( which it is never true ) the very best you can hope for in
position is 0.0001" plus or minus. To do better than the 0.0001" the mechanical axis needs a required steps per unit
at 20000.

It's an emotional issue to see say 1.9999 instead of 2.0000.
I never had a display problem with any of the machines, SS or PP,  if the steps per unit was reasonable above 10000.

Do small engraving and say it makes a difference on small engraving of letters.......how small and how deep and what is your runout at the tip of the point. Best i could ever do is 0.0005" tip radius which won't even last in scribing butter.  And you will not scribe a single point / line width of 0.001" since there will be spindle runout and ovality of the point. Sorry, just don't buy a practical impact on lettering because of the .0001" . FWIW my engraving
machine requires  253000 steps per unit , slow,  but accurate as can be in positioning. Small quality letters or numbers .010" high are a real challenge, almost not practical.

Spanish / Re: Que ventajas tiene la version Profesional de LacyCam?

MEROLIVAL,
The pro version of Lazy Cam provides for offsetting. A square drawn smaller or larger by half the cutter diameter
would do the same.

Wow, it sound like I'm making something major!

You are bowber.  ;) We are just concerned for you.......... since the last thing we want to see is failure of your device due to insufficient consideration of application of a material to its enviroment. You don't want the device ending up in a place it dosen't belong. Most folks have enough junk in the trunk and don't need anymore.  This is a public safety concern so don't minimise it.  ;D

FAQs / Re: Advise on cutting aluminium composite...
« on: January 13, 2010, 08:38:42 PM »
No response yet, so i will try and help , but have never cut that combination of material.
So take this for FWIW....

First, i would suggest doing a manufactures search and see if they have some advice on how machining should be done for the best results for that material. The cutter rpm is fixed so the only thing you can do is vary cut depth and feedrate. The acrylic melts or degrades / burns due to heat and you can end up breaking that small cutter ( assume its a end mill and not a saw ). So a coolant or colder air is required to take that heat away. You can split the machining steps such that the feedrate is adjusted for each material . Nothing beats a little testing  if you can and would use a larger tool for the testing to avoid breakage.

LazyCam (Beta) / Re: Turbocad PLT file does not load correctly in LazyCam

Why not just create and provide a  ver 12 DXF for LC?
I can't help on the plt file imports as i have never tried or used them in LC. Maybe someone else will chime in with experience. Get the feeling that not all plt files are created equaly. Does Corel Draw open the plt file?
