General Mach Discussion / Re: Problems threading on the lathe
« on: February 21, 2010, 08:23:55 PM »
Hi all,
I am sorry about not updating the write up.

I have comments marked in mine and thought that i had updated it some time ago and posted the update.
Obvioulsy not.........

The main thing is that the diagnostics is no longer functional, so....
Ignore most  of page 19/ fig 3.7.1 & 3.7.2
Page 42, ignore the third paragraph
Page 45, ignore verbage related to and figure 7.1.5
Page 46, ignore the whole page
,and you need to use an M3 or spindle button to turn the spindle on or you won't get an rpm reading in the dro...
this was done so Mach would be able to read low rpm's ie; it informed MAch to start looking for the index pulse as it relates to rpm

Russ,
Do you have the turn diagnostics on?
Do not use or enable the plugin. It is no longer functional.

Don't know what is going on there....
Backlash is done when a change of movement occurs, one axis or in a combination move. Using version 033 and have no problem here.
What Mach version are you using?
Any problems with the axes when backlash comp is not used?
What were you doing when you took the video to make the axis moves?
Are you using a SS or PP?
How about some more info .......

stevebuck,

Glad it all worked out. And looks good. I think you can even make it look better if you so desire.......
Just a matter of how meticulous you want to be with the work of art you did, so , please not condeming in any manner way or form.

Illusions happen with letters, such that GJOQSU need to below an alignment line as sometimes they will appear to be too small see illusions pic.You just tweak it some and let your eye be the judge.

Color is the difference between a dark and light background and i have roughly shaded in the background to show what  i am meaning. Changing the letters width and spacing will adjust the color and provide for better visualization by the eye.
See colr1 pic. Do you see i meanit?

I realy hope you take the comments in the right light .........

Hey Dumb beginer,
Good grief that greeting almost seems sarcastic...  ;D

Anyway, there is a manual for Lazycam in the members docs and it has 7 tutorials which you can do along with step by step instructions. No need for CAD as there are  DXF files for the tutorials which can be downloaded.

In fact take a look at the documents in there for nightime reading and education.

LOL,
RICH

« on: February 20, 2010, 04:04:09 PM »
OK, so that's  why i couldn't delete a few layers in your drawing as they contained 3d stuff in the layers when the dxf was created. I guess.....

That dxf and the way LC imported it would create all kinds of problems when you wanted to do say an offset as the offset created would end up being multiple offsets. So, now you know what is meant by "not all dxf files are created equally" and a few other words in the manual.  ;)

Glad you figured it out,
RICH

Make a copy of it and rename the copy to something like clive.xml and attach when you reply.

Try my drawing. I don't know what your doing drawing wise, but, mine was created as a 2d drawing in Autocad and exported out as a ver 12 dxf.
