ART,
Just took a look and LT has been 2 years in the making. Maybe just need to clean up the finish and let her post.  That way you get possible
involvement of a lot of users on real applications. If the song is too long sometimes the audience may be lost.

ART,
So will lazyCam just be left as it is?

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 R3.042.033 overfeed bug
« on: February 23, 2010, 02:26:08 PM »
Pavlll,
I think what you are seeing is because of your steps per degree.
If you move 10 degrees than the number of steps would be rounded to the lower or higher
of the whole step. Thus you get some parts of a degree like .0126 deg in this case, but at certain angles it will be
a displayed even degree in the dro.
"I think " you would need a number divisible by 360 and 10.8 reduction to get rid of that.
AT 10 degrees you have  .0126 degrees = .756 min = 45 seconds which would be about 0.0025" in a foot.
You can ignore it or accept it for what it is.

So it's a resolution thing and good resolution will come from mechanical for a rotary.

I don't have any dro numbers like that for any angle, but , my steps per degree are 750.

Hope this makes sense,
RICH

Andrew,
Goes back along time, but Art said inside wouldn't be done until Lt replaced the LazyCam lathe module totally.
Maybe he'll give us an update on what he expects for now and the possible future development.
See section 3.0 in the manual.

base cam program from any link or provider in order to make my journey short

I am going to guess that there are probably 100 CAD programs for drawing something from free to a lot of cost.
Then there are probably 50 CAM programs out there some of which are free / limited   to very expensive.

How about forgetting about all of that stuff and use the 50 wizards for generating the code to machine something.
Cad and CAM come into play when you start to do more complex shapes. So you can learn a whole lot by just playing with and using the wizards for no cost other than time.

Try Autocad light, you can buy a Light version for under $50 now. Then use LazyCam, because it's free until you want to do advanced stuff like offsets. pocketing, etc then you need to spend $80?, and by the time you outgrow it you will know what you want out of a CAM program. So for a $130= 3 good quarts of scotch= 2 carton of cigarretes = 5 cases of beer....  and you will be healthier using the software. Maybe not happier.  ;D The CAD and LazyCam ( hey, you may add a lathe and you'll have the software to generate the code for it). The CAD is just one of those growing pains  which when learned  will open up a new world for CNC.

So i seldom recommend, but always say, try it out if you like, if it's your cup of tea then enjoy it.

There is no magic wand short cut on the cnc journey. Just enjoy the learning curve following what you like to do.

CLick the links button above. Surf the web, type in cnc machining.

When you start trying to learn or try  numerous programs all you end up doing is learning the limitations and quirks of each software and not having fun. You can spend  hours fooling with them all, they all have quirks, it's just a matter of degree.

BTW, Lazycam is limited to 50 lines if you are not a licensed MAch3 user....so the manual says. ;)

Off subject stevehuck, but, Meleey posted some nice macros for peck drilling, so all you need to do is add a few lines of code for the drilling and not do all that stuff that is in the manual.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Spindle calibration setup

I will call this reply the blind leading the one that can see.
The only spindle stuff i have done is using steppers on  my lathe............
Just something i found on the Yahoo group, FWIW, as it's almost a year old.....

You certainly have a right to your opinion and it's respected.

I present to you the following challenge:

Find a basic CAM program for the mill and lathe ( so this also includes Lazyturn ) which has a good manual, excellent knowledgeable support, and provides the level of CAM capability directly into Mach for the same or lower cost of the License.

What say you?  ;)

Russ,
Dell Optiplex ........I have a Dell Optiplex GX520 and the signal out of the pc's PP just plain sucks and there is nothing i could ever do about it. Also the kernal speed was not that solid. Worked fine with a SS.

On my new pc the kernal will be like 25004 +- 1 or 2, and never changes, but, the new rpm that is displayed is not a manipulated one ( for lack of better words ) and is based on the index pulse / real time. Max velocity with the Dell
was 20 IPM and that was a stretch........new pc 120 ipm if deisred via PP.

My DEll is a great machine otherwise, for everything, but for MAch via PP, well it just plain sucked!

FWIW,
 RICH
