General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 install on Vista CPU for XP CPU?
« on: June 06, 2010, 02:19:13 PM »
Wouldn't it is be just as easy / fast to just directly install onto the XP computer. Download Mach to a stick and install from it.

Mach Screens / Re: 7" Touch screen?
« on: June 06, 2010, 02:09:20 PM »
Yep, I like it and the umbilical cord should be available for all the machines.

Attached is my movable cart.
It was an cart for a HP oscilloscope that i got for $5 and then just modified it  some so
all the components could be put on it. If i had to do it all over maybe i would tweak the dim's
some ( add a little clearance between the shelves ).

The main point of it was to save cost. So one setup is good for all the machines. MPG and manual kill switch
is on extended cord, has a resistor switch box so i can easily change the amp setting for the drivers ( 1.5 / 3 / 6 amp),
also can just remove the screen & keyboard and easily use a laptop.
Shoot i can't run one machine let alone all of them...... ;)

Now if you really want to be cool about the enclosure, make it robotic so you can move  the cart by remote.
Call her R 2 BUD 2 and save the $130 for more Bud..... ;D

Hey Bud,
Why not just put the computer, screen, etc on a small cart and move her around?
Makes room for another machine..... ;D

The G91.1 in the test file  is incremental IJK mode.
I don't know what your defaults are so you may want to add the G64 on a line.

Yes the code is made up of arcs instead of your posted file which were all line segments. The arcs would give a cleaner
finish pass for the vanes.

KHALID,
Try running this file. It mimics the pump vanes and there are a number of
Z travels and goes about cutting the profile such that moves are made to different points
on the profile. The file starts at x & y =0  and returns back to 0,0 with the Z retracted to 1" above Z=0.

Note that the feedrate is set at 40 ( LINE N100 ). Change it to INCREASING different values, say 2,4,8,10,20 and see what happens.
You may want to try it in CV and exact stop mode.

You may want to put a pointed object in the quill or use your pen and trace it out on paper.

I believe it will tell something.............

khalid,
Post the Gcode file.

FWIW, my sanitized notes on motion and feedrate.

Co-ordinated Linear Motion  (Section 10.1.5 in manual)
Co-ordinated linear motion - each axis moves at constant speed and all axes move from their starting positions to their end
positions at the same time, also defined as control the axes so that, at all times, each axis has completed
the same fraction of its required motion as the other axes
                                            - IE; any two axes ( x,y or z ) produces motion in a straight line
                                            - the motion can be done at prevailing or rapid feedrate and may default to the slower axis feedrate

FEEDRATE ( unless G93 is used ) Section 10.1.6 in manual
1. X, Y, Z  + A, B, C         - without simultaneous rotation -  F =length / minute  ( along the linear path )
2. X, Y, Z  + A, B, C         - with simultaneous rotation -       F =length / minute  ( for the XYZA combination linear path ~ modified F
                                                                                                                   based on a diameter)
3. X, Y, Z  + A or B or C  - with simultaneous rotation -       F= Degrees / minute of  A or B or C
3. X, Y, Z  + A B C                                                                    F= Degrees / minute  using a blended ABC / conceptual angular motion
                                                                                                        for total time

3 Feed Rate Modes - ( Section 10.7.25 in manual )
G93        - inverse time feed rate -            F = 1/F#  minutes ( if the F number is 2.0, the move should be completed in half a
                                                                                                   Minute)
                                                                 - if active, an F word must appear on every line which has a G1, G2, or G3 motion
                                                                 -  an F word on a line that does not have G1, G2, or G3 is ignored.
                                                                 -  does not affect G0 (rapid traverse) motions.
It is an error if: inverse time feed rate mode is active and a line with G1, G2, or G3
(explicitly or implicitly) does not have an F word

G94        - units per minute feed rate         F= inches / minute, mm / minute, or degrees / minute, determined by length  units are  being used and which axis or axes are moving

G95          units per rev feed rate               F= number of inches / mm / degrees per spindle revolution, determined by what length  units are being used and which axis or axes are moving.

KHALID,

Plotting a square and circle are good ways of checking. In fact there is an old standard for actaully machining a similar piece
with a raised hub for the circle and tapered sides out to the square for confirming machine accuracy.  Attached is a picture of my adjustable
spring loaded tracing pen which i use since it comes in handy sometimes. ( no tearing of the paper)

Just a comment on the Z backlash ( .053" ). You may find that Z will push up or pull down when machining
depending on how you have it counterweighted. There is no "locking" of the rack other than weight which may
not be a problem in softer / easier machining materials. But on harder materials it could say drop into the material
some and create a problem.

ART,
True retirement is doing whatever you enjoy doing for whatever reason you want to do it.
Glad your succeeding....

I still have a ways to go.    ;)
