Is there a screen set going about that has one?

Someday! Don't know when, but, seems they are getting along with mill, so maybe turn will get it's turn.  :D  >:D
There was a thread which asked what the new turn screens should be like some time ago.

Go to CONFIG>MOTOR TUNING and input  the proper steps per, velocity, acceleration for your motors.

1. Just set the units in CONFIG>Select Native Units dialog
2. Depends on your steps per unit for an axis: 25000 hz / 4000 ( lets say stepper 200 and 10 micro steps and 2:1 ratio = 200x10x2=4000)
then 25000/4000= 6.5 ....6.5 x 60=350 units per minute max rate at that kernel and that is realy fast!
So do you need to go to 65000 hz? probably not
Have a look at the Mach3 CNC Controller Software Installation an Cofiguration Manual ( sect 5 )
2A. You should check your actual axis movement which includes acceleration

3.Depends on what you what you are meaning. You can open a Gcode file and run the mill, but that would be like driving a strange car
with your eyes closed. So start reading the manual.  Post questions as they accur, main thing is to get the mill setup properly and then dummy run some prgrams, and then do some simple stuff AT SLOW SPEEDS. Just a learning curve you must go thru.

4. If there is a Mach3 post processor file for those programs then the gcode produced should work fine. There are folks in here that use Mastercam, don't know about the other program.

5.Somebody else will probably chime in / provide suggestions  on that one for your.

6.Can use the M7 & M8 codes in the program file. Also setup inputs / ouputs to control something.  A lot of folks have added buttons etc to accomplish that and will leave it to them to reply.

Ramsey,
Yes there sure are a lot of settings, check boxes, etc for set up. Mach is very configurable and that makes it hard  the first time user
to grasp it all. As a tech writer you should know just how hard it can be to write a users manual which addresses so manny topics and satisfies
the needs of such a varied level of readers for interelated topics associated with CNC and almost unlimited machine setups.
Let us not forget that there is interfacing of mechanical, electronics, computer, sofware which all works in harmony to control the machine.

Spend your money wherever you wish and hope you find something for Mach's price with it's capability and support.
I will comment that it dosen't exist!  ;)

BTW, you asked, we quickly repsonded, and if you had a different attitude you would have been up and running by now.
It could of been that simple. Should you change your mind we and thousands of other users are here for you.  :)

You could put a G20 or G21 ( for mm) into the Iniatialization String found in pulldown CONFIG>General config.
Also you can create an initialization macro.....see Appendix "C" / page 57 in the Threading on the Lathe manual wihch can be found
in members docs.

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / Re: MachTurn wizards

Ramsey,
There are no instructions.
So try it with simple / even numbers of input so you can check the posted g code.
I would recommend you set your config for radius and reversed arcs unchecked.
Make a few notes as you go along.....

Dave,
Nice job on the screens and a new manual to boot!
Surely a lot of effort and must say thanks to those involved.

Does that mean TURNING may be on the horizon?

General Mach Discussion / Re: worm gear cad design
« on: June 20, 2010, 07:41:02 AM »
You could create one using 3d of a cad program ( haven't tried ) ie. you do a helix with a decreasing end diameter.
Now to get the gcode to cut it is a different story.....Mach threading is based on a constant pitch,  set by  feedrate over a distance...
Noot sure a if a math expression applied to something would work...
I don't know ....just some thoughts!

Tend to agree with Gerry and Hood that it is mechanicaly related.

Tangent Corner / Re: My futur Wood and metal Shop (Pics

So where is a shop layout plan of what your going to put in it.....?  ???

Only comment , which you probably have thought about is, wood / metal / grinding / welding / ect just
require their own space.  ;)

As far as the wife, heck.....give her a potting bench for flowers near the door, redo the nuptual agreements like this is my
space and the Kitchen is yours.....but, yes, you can have the potting bench in the shop and three feet in front of it.   >:D
Better yet, build her a bigger one than yours!  :D
Man needs his owne "cave" ....better half needs her owne valley!   :)  :)
Take my advice and you better build a dog house sized for a man.  ;D

Looking forward to seeng it filled,
