FAQs / Re: Z Axis Double Counting
« on: July 13, 2010, 04:27:37 PM »
Are the x axis steps per unit correct or double of what they whould be?

When in Machine coordinates the DRO's will display absolute values and always show the X distance in terms of a radius even
though you may be in diameter mode. So if you configure for radius mode then there should not be any confusion when you check it.
Machine coordinates are picked in the manual screen since you have a choice of machine, part, and program.

Hope this helps..... ???

If that dosn't work just assign an unused pin number, enable estop, and check Emulated
in CONFIG>PORTS & PINS>INPUT SIGNALS

Brian,
I don't know what to say as I have never had your problem.
G0X0
G0 X0
G0 X0.0
G0X0.0
They all work......

Dave,
Just watched the video and yes it was interesting, and seems nice , but i can do the same as i replied and not cost me almost a grand!
What can i say........... ;)

Has anyone run into this scenario?

I just reuse my XML file on different pc's and never ran into what you are experiencing. I am guessing, done that for
5 pc's or so, and, they are like night and day in makeup.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Tormach CNC Scan.
« on: July 12, 2010, 04:05:11 PM »
There was an artilce in Digital Machinist about it.
Basicaly you use your camera to scan the object and then it puts it together so you have a composite
picture of the scan. ( Folks have been doing this for a rather long time with telescopes to get pictures of  stars and planets
via freeware. Now the scan software, if purchased, will then allow you to draw over the scan and you can save it as a DXF file.
I think i got it right.... ???

Interesting on the scan part of it.

I can take a high resolution picture, do the same with CAD ( which i have done for many projects)
and be done quicker.  ;) A different way would be to use "Copycat" and the gcode is done and post to Mach to cut the piece.  ;) There is a manual done for CopyCat  in Members Docs.  :o You can also backplot a gcode and get a drawing.

So, i quess there is a another tool out there, but i don't need to spend money to get the same results.

Hmm......Am I being negative, missinformed, or cheap?
Heck, you decide...i just report..... ;D

Hi All,
Time just flies when your having fun. I got "in the mood" to work on the magnum.
Like I said, need to reverse engineer the darn thing to get dimensions for the scaled model, so been working on the cylinder drawings.
Here's a shot of the ejector, was a PITA, but got it figured out and can generate code for test cutting......

reading posts on the site and got the impression the manual was not done yet

The last manual update was almost a year ago. It covers what it covers, and since LC is no longer being developed, I have no great
ambition to update it for the other modules or it's use. Since LazyTurn ( going on 3rd year of developement ) will replace the
LC Turn module, i may just delete that section at some time.

So it will be what it is....... ;)

understandable by a person NEW to ALL the jargon

Welcome to a learning curve of which there is no shortcut. That said, the LC manual will certainly help, but you need to read it and use it.
If you get hung up on some verbage, post the word / verbage and we'll try to reply in laymans terms.
