General Mach Discussion / Re: Motors are buzzing???Help

Servos or steppers?
Post info on your driver and motors.
How are the motors wired?
Post your xml file

Sounds like you may have the amp setting to high for the motor if they are steppers , thus they will get warm and can behave strangely.
But rather than guessing give the above info for someones review.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3 with a DeskCNC controller?

Do you know of a site where I can get info on converting?
Maybe one of the members here have done it but don't remember any posting on the subject.
Mach provides  a step and direction pulse and I think your drives acccept that, then i would guess you should be able to bypass
the board associated with the software and use them. May need to use the Sherline Mode in General Config for a longer pulse.
Post some info or a link on them to make it easier for someone to take a look. The folks in here with servos can be more helpfull.

I consider it part of my learning curve
Sorry you got sucked in, it is what it is. Hopefully your experience here will be very different.
Don't have any ideas on other sites relative to the IMS stuff.

no help...especially IMService
Maybe you didn't pay your $60 yearly IMS fee to ask a question and get an answer!   ;)

Try a M3 or M4 in the MDI line.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Parallel Port Voltage
« on: September 19, 2010, 10:16:29 AM »
PP cards can be single or dual voltage output ( 3.5 or 5 ) and the voltage can vary between the cards. You need a high and a low voltage swing and the internal resistance of the PC can vary. I few cards i purchased went to the trash can as recommended by an  electronics friend. He also made up some boards to guarantee the voltage swing was correct and crisp. I will remark that the boards did nothing for a bad signal generated by the PC. That problem is rather incurable.

and do some other things
Don't know what other things you are doing? Maybe the file is in use by something else?
Using W7 by any chance?
You running LC via Mach or stand alone?
Just some thoughts......
Don't have an answer for you other than close and reopen LC and start over. ???

General Mach Discussion / Re: Acceleration
« on: September 19, 2010, 08:09:28 AM »
In motor tuning you are setting a max velocity and acceleration and thus they will limit a movement such that neither will exceed the max.
So if you want to change the acceleration, and depends for what the motion is related to, ie; a single axis / combined axis / rotating spindle,
or even a combination of one related to another, or linear / rotational, then you need to change one of the associated parts of acceleration, namely feedrate or speed.

You can have a read of the manual for Gcode and different feedrate modes.

Maybe i am totaly off base here as the needs are different as compared to machining.
I envison a difference in the basic importance of a parameter for what you want to do since you have introduced an undefined parameter such a
addressing changing viscosity to control motion. ie; How complex is the vicosity and do you have required data to relate it to the motion?
Shear thinning or thickening, residence time, related to HP requirements, isolated to part of the system, residence time etc etc and how do you want it to all relate. Simply, what is the horse and cart........and how is the data sampled and then related to what you want to control.
Stated a different way what is the logic?

Answers to simple questions sometimes can be complex......,

Are all cads the same?
No, so can't be of much help. Check out the site as i would think there is some kind of info on the program.

You can set the units for new drawings and exporting in manny cad programs. Your help section should give you some info.

Are you using W7? ( I  have not upgraded to it )

Below are my notes from page 139 of the LT thread

WINDOWS 7 - POSTING FILE FROM LAZYtURN
----------------------------------------------------------

- This isn't a permissions issue as it will create the file but the file is empty
( the problem is actually that notepad isnt allowed access to read the file?)

Make sure the folder your saving it to has appropriate priviledges. OR, rigth click and run in administrator mode.
I tend to save to desktop, so I dont get that problem, but it shoudlnt appear if the folder your trying to save to
has the write priveleges enabled.. ( Win7 is bad that way..)

- Change  LazyTurn to run in compatibility mode for XP SP2. ( right click on the lazyturn shortcut, compatibility tab,
put a check in the box and choose Windows XP SP2 from the dropdown)

- Look for your file in the Mach3 folder ( they will be blank ) drag them to the desk top.

« on: September 18, 2010, 07:03:38 AM »
Happy you found the problem.
BTW....Some programs will automaticaly give you the Gcode for the gear but they break the curvature of the gear teeth into a number of
straight moves and that creates a lot of code. If you draw the gear out in cad you can  get arcs instead of straight lines thus reducing the the code
significantly and a true gear profile. Depends on how anal you want to be about the gear. I may also add that Art is creating a program for gears named Gearocia or someting like that. Anyway, i draw my gears based on standards and use a spread sheet to calc all the dimensions. Don't cut manny gears though.
