LazyCam (Beta) / Re: LazyCam double tracing?
« on: March 07, 2011, 05:55:36 AM »
The main outer rectangle is also traced twice. In LazyCam
SETUP>LOADING OPTIONS> "check the box" REMOVE DUPLICATED LINES
That will remove them.

G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: G76 Threading problem
« on: March 07, 2011, 05:40:18 AM »
Hafco,
It is stopping at that line and waiting for the index signal to tell Mach to begin the threading.
Test that your index is working properly, see Threading on the Lathe Write up, Axis test / page 9.
Make sure your configuration is correct.

Dan,
Post the dxf and will I take a look at it. I don't kow what Sketchup provides in a dxf and sounds like there are more than one lines. If the additional line was exactly like the other one checking the box to remove redundant lines  would remove it on import. After importing the dxf you may want to zoom way in and delete the offset line.
Is there a line width setting in Sketch up ? There are other free Cad programs out there and you may want to consider  one of them instead of SketchUp.

If Mike uses the axis calibration feature he need not even calculate them, but first, he needs to provide controller info so Mach is set up correctly.

bbcurve,

I just tried it here.
When win 7 gave the error message I said OK make a new file.
Then I posted again to the file just created. The post is completely blank.

Answer to your problem can be found on page one of this thread.

Mike,
I will assume that you have at least taken a look at the Mach 3 Manual.

In the motor tuning, it only shows max 5us so in my case it sould be 20000. Right? I don't see where you got 10us?

The microstepping is set on the driver which is inside your controller box. It may be something different than 10 or provide you other options like 1/4, 1/8,1/16
so look at your info on the controller. I just used 10 us as an example and if it's a different value it will change the steps per unit.

Additionaly the 5us max in motor tuning is something different, namely Step Pulse time and you need to see what is recomended.
Also, in Ports and Pins there is a selection for "Sherline 1/2 pulse mode " which you may need to check.

Post your contoller info and we will have a look to see what is correct.

You got that idea from using the sewing machine where the big bobbin of thread is used for the whicha ma call it inside the sewing machine.  ???
Cheap no ........adaptive..... yes   ;D

1. First make sure that you have Mach configured for the units  you will be using ( mm or inches ).
2. Then set the steps per unit in motor tunning ( i think the screws are 20 TPI, so steps per unit is 200 x 20 x 10US=40000 if your drive is set for 10
microsteps. Assuming the stepper is directly connected to the screw.
3. Now go to the settings tab and use the axis calibration to check the steps per unit over a long travel.
4. Now check for backlash.

Don't know what kind of drives you have and you may want to post that info.

General Mach Discussion / Re: would like some advice
« on: March 05, 2011, 08:54:57 AM »
Note the following:
The max velocity in motor tunning is limited by the available pulses / Kernel Speed:
KERNEL SPEED / STEPS PER UNIT X 60= MAX IPM
IE; 25000/20000 x 60= 75 IPM max so if you want more velocity you will need to increase your Kernel Speed given the axis steps per unit shown
