General Mach Discussion / Re: Current Hi/Lo setting?
« on: August 02, 2011, 05:42:42 PM »
You set the current for each axis using the dip switches on the board and the max current setting is 3A per axis.
What current setting you use depends on the motor rating and  how it is wired.

Keith,
What drives are you using? Post info on them.

can limit current to the motors until actually required, which assists in keeping them cool?
No, usually done with a switch / resistor  on the drive .... but if you post info about your drives surely someone will take a look to better help you out.

I'm trying to work with rear tools.
Please read my reply #22.

Suggest  a look at the manual to understand how the generated code is compensated. Then consider using a G52  maybe ( see section 6.2  to 6.5 in Appendix F).

I hope this doesn't get me banned from forum.

You expressed your experience as a new user of software with implied seeking of opinion. There is nothing wrong with that.
Should you have just vented angrily,ie; like you bought it and wanted to do harm to some company, then it would be looked upon differently and not tolerated.
The forum users here are above that, can accept honest factual criticism or evaluation of a product, since that is informative to the community of users.

BTW,
I remember spending hours trying out Ver 17 of it a few years back and gave up on it.

A good read of the manual and taking  the time to look at the Tutorials will go a long way in using LC .
At a high level, you need to select the profile you want to machine, define the tool that will be used making sure it is appropriate for the task to be done, define the
depths, apply lead-ins ( see Tutorial #7) as it covers the subject of leads in's and how to mainpulate them. Page 28 just gives a quick description of the items listed on the flyout.

dazza111,
Could be a number of things causing your problem.
Post a pic of your machines Z axis.........
Have you checked the steps per unit for the Z? Any backlash? Anything loose or slipping on the driven axis? Cutter slipping in the collet?
What software are you using to generate the code? Are your setting the Z retract height correctly?
How much is the Z changing?

When LC opens go to  SETUP>GCode File Options and browse to the location where you want the files to go.

You can also do a Windows search of the file name and see where it is located.
Also you can Click Start>My Recent Documents, select the file and right click looking at the properties and see where it is.

Sometimes you need to have Windows reread the directory / hardrive for the file to show up in the listing.
