Using the file you posted I had no problem generating code from Lazyturn in diameter mode.
See Pic DIAMETER MODE_HCIR1

Then I ran the gcode file in MacH3 Turn. ( had to edit a few lines because of more than one line number on the same line  )
See Pic DIAMETER MODE_HCIR2

Then I backplotted the gcode and copied your drawing to compare the code to the pathing form LazyTurn.

don't see any options while saving the dxf file about diameter mode
Missunderstanding .....draw your full size full size and just save as a version 12 DXF.
( What i meant was ,some follks for whatever reason will draw half size, then use the diameter  / radius option to enlarge it,
and then who knows what mode they are in in Mach3 Turn...you just don't do goofy stuff like that)

The rough pass is in diameter settings and the fine pass is in radius settings (need to be doubled).

I have never seen that and need to fool around to see what you did to accomplish it!  ;)

The problem is that Denford doesn't support the older machines  ???
I don't know what you mean .....

I am not aware of such a problem.
You can change from diameter to radius mode in both Lazyturn and Mach3 turn.
Your mode should be the same from the DFX, to Lazyturn setup, to export of the code into Mach3 turn.

I would suggest you have a read of the Lazyturn Manual which can be found in Members Docs.

Post your dxf file which is drawn based on diameter.

General Mach Discussion / Re: accel and velocity

HMMM....so we are right back to what the orignal question was and instead of echoing what has been posted i'll try again.
Yes, one can calculate, but one must be aware of what and how  the calculations are made and what they are telling them based on
varying inputs.

In practical applications one defines an acceleration desired and finds what is required to achieve it …or … accepts the value based on some other parameters.

That said, if one has all of the information required they could use one of the computer programs to calculate / evaluate a system. The problem is that unless
the data is very close to what the program uses for information and comparison ( motor / drive  system ) you will just be playing with numbers. The manufactures
programs provide a motor choice to fit the conditions, but in the end only actual testing ( motor tuning ) confirms the reliablility.  The three M's all interelated.

Maybe try out one of the programs and see if you really have the data and understanding required.

Have fun,
RICH

I don't don't use servos and the tuning is different than tuning steppers. That said, post if you wish and see
where it goes.

General Mach Discussion / Re: G92 and G52 - How SHOULD They Work?
« on: January 30, 2012, 10:55:47 PM »
Will admit not the sharpest tack on all the different codes. A few notes from my notes on use:
- G92 is an old /  legacy command and was basicaly replaced by G52 along with the G54 / work offsets
- G52 - a temporary offset - you need to have a work offset in place since it offsets the original offset by some value and can be cancelled thus
the original offsets are not cancelled
- G10 will change the workoffset

The only time I use the G52 is for code form  Lazyturn.  Attached is how to use it from the LazyTurn Manual Appendix "F". Thanks to Grayham for
showing me how to use it.

Terry,
I am confused some.....
Does G92 provide an offset from the part back to the the tool / controlled point, where as, G54 provides provides for an offset from the controlled point to the part.
Too much Smid on the brain  or  my notes. :)

The input input values in motor tuning change.

There are three parts to the total system, and to keep it simple, they are:

Mach - used loosely here, it includes the PC ( which includes how well the pc will function for using the controlling software, namely Mach ), controller ( which includes drive type, power supply ) , and all the rest of the items which touch the generated pulse stream

MACHINE - Its does the task and is made up of mechanical items (all those items which make up an axis) and electromechanical ( motors which must provide power to do work).......which in this case is identical....but adjustment of the machine can influence preformance.......so lets assume identical

MACHINING- is the task to be done which requires that the software and machine are capable of providing for it.

All the parts are interelated, changing one part affects the other parts of the total system.

No instructions, wiring diagram, etc. A picture from Ebay is rather useless.
Contact the seller and ask for some references.

FAQs / Re: Importing files from Turbocad
« on: January 30, 2012, 05:04:42 AM »
Mach3 is a Windows based CNC controller. You need to use addtional software to create Gcode from 2d/3d files. Mach includes programs such as LazyCam which can import a 2d dxf,
define the machining, and then export Gcode to Mach3. Thus you need other software.

did I come across that I didn't REALLY appreciate the help

Not at all Tom ,and  maybe I should have said "we" instead of you ;)
