G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: need help please bobcad mach turn

Try changing the mode ie; from incremental to absolute or the reverse.
See the first few pages in Mach3 Turn-Arc Motion write up which can be found in Member's Doc's.

Post the file.

No need to  double post as someone will address your original post.
We may  be somewhat slow in responding but we are not very accurate ............ ;D  :D

Why can't I have it NOW!?!?!
I don't know what you mean or want.

WYSIWYG software That will work like my laser software
Don't know what your software does and assume you just want something simple. There are programs that will
take an image and convert to them to Gcode.  LC has a module but never fooled with it much a along time ago.
All the wsyiwyg results are something to be desired.Maybe someone will post a free one here for you to try.

If you don't have a license for MACH you will limited on the number of lines of gcode it will run.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Total NOOB Quick start guide. ?

papakel,
I would suggest you consider purchasing CNC Programming Handbook by Smid.
It has 540 pages of info that overall covers most aspects of CNC including Gcode.

It does not cover manny of the aspects that were mentioned in reply #4. How could ....it

Now if you want a visual about arcs, try the writeup in Members Docs called ARC Motion. Written for the lathe user but good  grounding when applied to the mill. Play with the files and have some fun.

E stop - mine is different in that it kills the axes movement and doesn't take out the complete power and can be held in my hand.
Need to get around to adding the KILL Switch would take out the complete machine.

Axis Dissable - allows disabling any or all the axes

MPG's - couldn't live without them, suite oneself on how to use them, turn fast the axis moves fast..... turn slow and creep along   at  1/1000" , two required and have them turn in the direction the axis should go so you don't have to think about it

One movable cart with the electronics - saves money- may not be applicable for a lot of users

General Mach Discussion / Re: Unwanted Gcode Line

per my 1st post is why line N30 is generated on the gcode. I mean since the origin is at top right when the cutting starts there is no reason for the tool to go raised to -X10 and then to lower and start the cutting, its waste of time.

The above question was already answered in reply #4 to best of my ability. Don't waste your time looking for a deeper meaning or reason. LC does what it does, just accept that as best you can, and deal with it. I gave you some how to options.

I just don’t understand why Mach travels from the origin (0,0) to –X10 with the bit raised and then starts the cutting.

I think, guessing...... that LC selects a location for the start of cutting based on having a lead-in and as such it provides for a first move to a location which will allow it. One can set the type of lead in used on import or apply it afterwards. Note that LC  is an importer of a drawing, does some things automaticaly, should not be used as a CAD program, it's up to the user to define or change each machining step and how they want to accomplish it.  See Tutorial #7 (all of it) and always read the comments. No one knows the logic applied to LC  as no documentation exists, thus, the only way is to hack at the program and see what it does.

General Mach Discussion / Re: is this possible with mach 3?
« on: October 01, 2012, 07:39:07 PM »
If you have two points that you can measure  accurately then you can quickly calc to find the angle and use a G68 or 69....
Can probably use CopyCat ( used with a video camera, CoptCat Manual fcan be found in in members docs ) to easily get two points and modify
the code on the fly for the G68. I never fooled with G68 or G69 in Mach.

There are some macros written so you can touch off the vise jaws and account for them not being perpendicaular to the axis.

A friend wrote his owne touchoff routines to accomplish what you want to do. I don't have them, frankly i don't use them or have any interest.
I still believe in spending a few minutes to square things up ............

Just a few comments in passing by,
RICH
