Nice job and maybe you can make one for the other side of the grill.
So when is the cookout?
We can all come, have ribs and beer,  and discuss what the other one should be for.  ;)

General Mach Discussion / Re: Need help with machine set up

scgrove,
This is the 4 TH thread ( others were on 6/10,20, and 23 ) you have created asking for help.
Same / similar  initial beginning post.

Folks have replied to you in the other posts.

If you keep to the same thread at least someone will have a perspective of what you need and can be additive to posted
replies. You can for example just reply and ask ..... " anybody else out there willing to help".

That said, be patient, since any and all replies are given voluntarily should they so desire to assist.

BTW, seems Jerry responded to you in the other thread
http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,24884.msg176301.html#msg176301

ASAP for you is not necesssarily so for others  and you should understand that.

In the mean time I would strongly suggest you start reading  the Mach mill manuals, learn about the machine you purchased and learn something about CNC. Of what value would it be if I came over to your place, installed whatever you need , set everything up, and said there you go ..........enjoy!
You would still have no clue as to what is required to make a piece on your machine.

Sorry but CNC is just not plug and play,

my lathe is not big enough to handle the forces generated

What you may want to try is using alternate flank cutting for the 4tpi. See page 44 of Threading on The Lathe - Mach3 Turn  which can be found in Member's Doc. I fooled with this some time ago and was able to do some threading I never thought possible with the wee little Sherline Lathe.

No problem with anything, just include a little one line comment to the product that it works with Mach and here is the link to the site.  >:D

Gary,
Look at the bright side of it....at least you can deal with it. Think of the people who don't even know what + or
- may mean.

I don't think it is going to get any better and the situation also applies to other parts of a control unit.

Have a look at this screen set as the work is already done along with numerous other changes that I think you will find easier and better to sue than the standard lathe screen.

If X & Y axis are identical then swap them and see if it does it with the X axis. If so, lower the max velocity and maybe increase the accel some ....say 50 ipm max velocity and 5 accel.

The G0 are rapid moves and as such the axis will try to move at the lowest max velocity setting of a combined axis move, so if they are both set at 70 ipm, with no head room allowed, then you will probably miss steps at random.

General Mach Discussion / Re: radius to end of arc differs from start
« on: June 19, 2013, 07:27:20 AM »
Dave,
From Help topic in Cambam. I recently updated but didn't have a look at the changes done in the latest version.
Never ends does it...... ;)

Arc Center Mode
This property controls whether the I and J parameters for arc moves (G2, G3) use absolute coordinates or incremental, relative to the arc end points. If this setting is different to the way the CNC controller interprets arc moves, the resulting toolpath may look a mess of random arcs in the controller.
Default When default is set in the drawing's machining properties, the post processor Arc Center Mode will be used. A default value in the post processor will use Incremental (C-P1).
Absolute I & J are absolute coordinates of the arc center point.
Incremental (C-P1) I & J are coordinates of the arc center, offset from the first arc point. This is the typical incremental mode. In previous versions this option was just called Incremental.
Incremental (P1-C) I & J are offsets of the first arc point from the arc center.
Incremental (C-P2) I & J are arc center offsets from the second arc point.
Incremental (P2-C) I & J are offsets of the second arc point from the arc center

Hood,
Because O comes before P and Windows will use the first file in the hierarchy that it finds.  :P
