General Mach Discussion / Re: Seeking some help on "drifting" X axis
« on: August 31, 2018, 06:56:09 AM »
1. Post the gcode file used in your intial post about drifting.
It should be a text file and is not an xml file. Probably has the ext of  (.tap ) .

2. Post your xml file that you are using for you machine. The xml file defines all the parmeters
    that will be used by Mach3 on start up. The xml file is located in the main Mach3 directory ie;
    plasma.xml.

We will simply review the gcode. Then we can review your xml for how your machine is configured and
provides general understanding about your machine without asking you a lot of questions.

Stay focused..........,

Good grief my friend,

Simply supply the gcode for review ................................,

See the attached pic's for dimensions of a BT30 plug gage and spindle.
There is a tolerance on the basic 1.250" dimension. Doubt that you can hold it on your lathe.
Frankly should make a gage to check and refine the taper post turning. BTW, usually they are ground.

Don't use Mach4 lathe but will remark to make sure the code generated is for the mode your using
ie; diameter or radius.

Have fun,

Post your gcode file. A quick backplot of the code  will reveal if it's a code problem.
Post your xml file you are using.

A picture of your machine, and in particular the Z axis, would help.

If you downgrade to Win 7, you can format the pc such that you have a dual boot system.
ie; when booting up you have a choice of Win 7 or an earlier version of Win like XP.

Many may comment that the above  "is old school / dated". Well, when you waite for over 10 years
for development by folks for the lathe you could be dead by the time what you want is available.

Just a thought, :D

General Mach Discussion / Re: fusion 360 mach3 turn atc g28 stops

You have a choice of what post processor you can use in Fusion. Have look at the Mach 3 definition of G28. That there are some differences in gcode commands depending on the post processor used ie; fanuc as compared to Mach3.

Just buy the book Programming Handbook by Peter Smid. Read / study the first  100 pages or so. Them continue through the book. The book will be a lasting reference.  There are videos, numerous sites with basic information, and of course all the Mach manuals. The above will give you  a firm foundation and understanding of CNC. CNC is NOT plug and play and you need to walk the learning path.

BTW, the learning never ends .....................,

Yes, I've learned a hard lesson but I don't believe that I, or any others in my situation, deserve to be told that we're stupid.

If you were informed that the vendor / item to be purchased was problematic and didn't take the advice one could say you were stupid! Mistakes are made and we move forward. Thanks for informing a lot of folks about that vendor as they now  have advice that should be considered!

Over the years so many folks have purchased Chinese stuff, and then come to this site for assistance after the fact for support. It's simple on my end in that I don't even reply to those request's anymore. Period!
Simple reason is that I personally  refuse to be used and taken advantage of  by grappy Chinese manufacturers or sellers to  provide free support, and frankly, they know what they are doing. I feel for the buyer, but, after YEARS of same old story, have just have become insensitive the matter.

In light of the above, just move on and fix whatever you need to do to have what you want.

General Mach Discussion / Re: no go on 2nd port

greg.

I have used both the RC302 and RC304 Rosewill cards and they work for all the axes.
Currently using the RC304 card and XP pro on my computer. It's been years since they were installed, but,
I remember having problems with installing the RC 302 card with the drivers provided on the CD. I believe I went to the Moschip
site and got an appropriate driver there that worked for the rc 302. For the RC 304 ( 2 parallel port card which is better than the single
port card ) the drivers provided on the CD were used. As Graig remarked you must install the correct driver. Also you must configure Mach
correctly for the A axis in pots and pins.
