I am sorry to say I do not want to take the time to learn the manual.

Dear Wayne,
I am sorry to say that I don't have the time to read it to you. >:(

Come on now.
Do you really expect the members in here to hold your hand and make reply after reply to every question YOU have because you are too
lazy to at least read some information?

Do the settings on this screen make any difference at all since they're all input in the wizard except for the cut & infeed types?  Do the different infeed types actually work
?

You may want to have a look at Threading On The Lathe which you will find in Member's Doc's.
Here is the link:
http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php/topic,13017.msg85313.html#msg85313

In reponse to your question on those settings you will find the followoing in the write up.
Yes they do work and you can do neat threading, like an acme thrad with just a requlare threading tool.
I will say that things will only be as good as YOUR lathe is.

The Turn cycle defaults provide default values when not specified / missing in G76.

Note the following settings:
The cut type and infeed type settings will affect the Gcode posted by the wizards and the default is  “0”. You change them and use any combination of them  as follows:

Cut Type: defines  type of threading method
0 - Flank cutting ( default )
1 - Alternate Flank cutting
2 – Back Flank cutting

InFeed Type:  defines how the passes are calculated
0 – Constant volume threading ( default )
1 – Cut the thread in X number of passes  ( set in the wizard  DRO 1022 )

NOTE: THE ABOVE SETTINGS WILL DEFAULT BACK  TO “0” WHEN YOU EXIT MACH3 TURN.

The table top, X Y  plane,  should be parallel to the movement of the gantry. You shold at east check to see the condition.
If you have adjusting screws for the table top make it so. Even if you do, you still can improve by making a light cut across the complete table top.

One is soft and one is hard. In one case you are you take away the power in case of  an emergency, like shuting the whole machine down. In the soft case you are stopping the program using software which is not failproof.

FWIW, my estop takes the voltage away from the opto's, and when applied, all axis stop INSTANTLY, of course the program continues to run but there is no movemement of the axis.

I don't know  / use Feature Cam , but, you should be using a post processor provided by Feature Cam  for Mach.

Hey Scott,
I wanted to see what kind of replies you recieved and after two weeks seems there is not much interest.

Let me ramble some about creating a new lathe screen

I realy dislike the OEM lathe screen and don't use it. I must say that I have never seen written logic behind it's creation
and to comment in any way would not be appropriate, only to say, it's restrictive in my opinion. What i disliked most was the back and forth required to get to the different screens and inability to do simple things because a screen was limited. Just to manny clicks and tabs to move around. I also deisred additional capability.

Back a long time ago Phil worked on a screen and and improved the lathe screen. That is still the one I use today since it has many nice features. Just "my opinion" and others would probably think very differently about it.

As time passes, maybe three years or so, I think of Mach4 and it's implications, namely that old screens, macro's won't work with
Mach 4. So one must ask........
Why go through all the effort at this time to do a new lathe screen?
Why create new wizards when Ron has provided a new lathe wizard. Skip the screen makeup as the wizard replaces the
basis for some of Dayone's screen revamp.

Just some thoughts,
RICH

MACH TOOL BOX / MACRO- LATHE DRILLING MACRO - G83
« on: November 27, 2013, 05:07:33 PM »
M1083 was replaced in some later Mach versions with one that did not work completely.
There were issues with the macro where Z will feed back in after the retract rather than rapid back in.

Replace your existing one with the attached one.

Hood,
When you get a chance just attach it and I will put in Members Doc's.

Thanks,
