I have a few extra Hall effect switch sensors laying around, and some magnets,

I use a Hall effect sensor and below is a link to how it's mounted. Works great,but, if one needs to purchase new it's cost
may be pricey.

You should check the spec info for the sensors you have. The sensor must be able to proivde / sense index at spindle speeds you will be using.
Can't remember details but a few sensors I have were not adequate.

Ok rich or anyone now that I've done this can someone please tell me how to cut my first board like setting home position and getting g code and how to set Z clearance and how to cut my first piece.

Glad it's working.

Your learning curve is about to "just" begin.
1. Read the Mach3 Mill  manual since there is a lot of information in it. CNC machining is not plug and play.
2.You can try one of the Wizards that comes with Mach as that will generate the gcode for you to fool with.
    Suggest you dry run it.

See where it skips ,try say 40 and lower by 5 to see what the max would be. Accel aroud 3 should be good to go.

Manual i downloaded from the internet, not sure it's what you have, and the controller looks like a different model, so probably the cards are different also.

Try lowering you velocity and accel in motor tuning. Say 50% and see what happens.

1. Card output volatge needs to be 5v, some are only 3volt and will not work, some are dual voltage and provide for selection
of voltage on the card so read your info on the card. If you use that card run the driver test with it to make sure the signal
quality is ok.

2.I don't know, trace the wire back to the cards and see where it goes as i con't see it in the pictures.

Call the seller and tell them your problem and see what they have to say and ask for info on both controller cards.
Insist on an answer and info nothing else is accpetable.

Couldn't find info on the boards and seems there are jumpers on the 382a but not sure what they are for.
The Max cn10 mode provided pc communication  to some board made a long time ago, like some 10 years ago.
I just happen to find a tad bit of info about the mode. So if the pc can communicate in that mode to your steppers then
pc output to the controller to the motors is working.

My question becomes what is the difference  of MaxCN10 mode as compared to call it normal step and direction mode output from
Mach as that would make things a lot easier if known. Are pins switched by some chance or is it just the wave form or whatever?

Just take a picture of the inside of the box. There is card  which could be the drive or there are 3 black boxes or something in there.
