G-Code, CAD, and CAM discussions / Re: PAYING FOR CUSTOM GCODE FROM JPG/PSD
« on: November 19, 2015, 06:33:51 PM »
What version of Mach are you using since you can't import a DXF file into current versions of Mach?

Do you have a license for Mach as the code can be limited on use if you don't and that will impact how it is done?

What tolerance do you want on the holes?

Thickness and type of material you are perforating?

A few holes or hundreds of holes?

How small are the holes?

May as well start thinking about the above and then some?

BTW, what kind of machines do you have and how good are they?

This stuff is not plug and play, it's your $ and you can save if you can define it.......

I think we have a small communications problem.
If you can clarify it would be appreciated...............

By " perforations " are you meaning round holes? through material and taking it a little bit more
Do you want to drill them, punch them out, plasma cut them, etc?
There is a difference as to what gcode will be required and what CAM can used to generate the code.

BTW, not sure what "PS" is ....... ???

This is the info you posted in another thread and  that thread will be  deleted by me.
See my next reply in this thread.

Hello,

I am seeking help in regard to perforations.
I have my design that I made in PS and have exported to a jpg.
I am having trouble getting the design into Mach 3 so I can use my CNC to perforate.

I am willing to pay someone if they can help make my design compatible and provide the basic instructions/help needed to guide me in perforating it so that is comes out right.

Do I need a special tool or mat as well?
Should I use a different program than Mach 3?

Video P*r*o*b*i*n*g / Re: Best setup for probing a trumpet mouthpiece
« on: November 18, 2015, 08:53:46 AM »
Thanks for the update. Was wondering how things were going.

Did they fix the problem with the new lathe and is that what you used?

I downloaded ProbeIt but have not tried it. It will not work with my new  screen set and have not contacted them to see if I would be able / allowed  to change the scripting
if purchased.

You can do some calc's to find how much over travel post probe touch off due to Debounce and Deceleration.
I use a slow federate of 1 IPM for probing and based on that the calculated overtravel into the material is 0.0000390" and  repeatability here is +- 0.0002" with
a "fixed probe". The probe I had for years just is not as repeatable and accurate as the fixed probe, and on the small lathe, the probe needs to be re-positioned.

I'll send you info, from my screen manual, via Skype for doing the calc's.

BTW,
Can you make a custom mouthpiece such that I don't need to practice, don't have to expend much energy to play those double high C's, and sound like Maurice
Andre? :D

LazyCam (Beta) / Re: loading lazycam to mach3

Mach won't open the lcam file it can only be opened in Lazycam. So open it in LC and then post code to Mach.

I don't know what dimension mode is.
Not aware of a glitch.....

Ask the manufacturer of that controller.

Chinese  sell their cheap, wrongly documented or made junk controllers along with pirated software and then give off support to someone else while they laugh at us.

Sorry if I am so negative, but it is an extremely irritating problem.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Mach3, LazyCam, Corel X5. Help please?

As Tweakie  replied, READ THE MANUAL, and don't hack at the program.
DXF must be a version 12.

Remember this:
Draw, use Lazyturn,  Mach configuration all in the same mode. Never / do not mix radius and diameter along the way!
Same for units!

General Mach Discussion / Re: Lathe Threading Troubles
« on: November 06, 2015, 07:32:04 AM »
You should have 3 to 5x pitch lead as that will provide time for the acceleration of the Z axis when threading.
Always run the Calc number of passes as that will tell you if you are exceeding Accel of the axis.

Scribing soft material is recommended as a simple test since there would be no rpm loss.

Threading a simple thin round disc ( say 1" or 2" dia  and 1/16" thick  ) can  show  repeatability of threading start point.
Actually you use the  G32 command  from some common point for testing.

NOTE:
Threading results are only as good as:
- YOUR   "Lathe System" , you have backlash and that is not good.......
- Set up
- etc.

No device is going to  cure any bad of the above . If you think a system is good then test by doing a 0-80 thread. Then try multi start threads and see if you can do a 2 or 3  start thread.

When I talk about threading it IS NOT about the nut goes on ....... rather, it's what class of thread / standard can one achieve.
