General Mach Discussion / Re: Should we start a few new catagories ?
« on: February 01, 2006, 05:17:20 PM »
Hi Benny,
It may have been said above......
This might require more maintenance, but after a thread slows considerably with minimal posts, then it could be passed to an appropriate catagory.
The subject would have been covered, and then it could be "put" where it could always be reviewed.
..just my thought(a quick one at that)

General Mach Discussion / Mach3 turn graphic display-improper display
« on: February 01, 2006, 04:53:34 PM »
Hi,
Although the Turn functions work, the display appears like the picture below.  Is this related to my graphics card?
Or is there a way of modifying the display?
Maybe this is slated for some future enhancement if the display anomalies are Mach3 related?

No hurry, I know other things need attention first.....just wondering..

General Mach Discussion / Re: Where to put it?

I have my router mount adjustable. This can accomodate longer tools if needed.... moving the mount upward.  Or if doing intricacies on flat surfaces with short tools, moving the mount down to minimize introduced flex caused by extended rails.  And then a middle postion for general use if desired.
It  depends on what pieces you will be cutting most often.
I want to be doing sculptural pieces too, so mounting the router up high allows more movement with longer tools(bits).

P.S.  Actually, I have two adjustments... 1. where the router body slides up and down in the brackets, and 2. The bracket itself can be remounted in alternate holes on the Z mounting plate.

If you could, it would be of great assistance to put screen shots or cad files up here to look at what all is going on in Bobcad.
I remember this happening to me too.. but can't remember what I did to correct the rendering of the code.

maybe going to BobCadCam's support forums and posting ....you may have some answers there.

Mach Screens / Re: Changes to Mach appearance features.

Benny,
Nice example of what you are trying to achieve.  I like your idea of the "Z" levels being positionable....!
let's hope it will be in the cards(read feasible).

General Mach Discussion / Re: adding second parallel port?
« on: January 23, 2006, 11:52:52 PM »
I just reviewed the "installation" video tutorial to see if things had changed...
If you still have problems,  make sure you leave off the "0x" and only enter the "CC00" into Mach's port configuration.
The program will add the "0x" by itself.

Let us know if you still have problems... good luck!

Brian,
Did you do the milling of wood threads in one pass?  Or did you set up a "cycle" to cut the square threads with
multiple passes?  Oak?  Maple?  soft woods?  This is interesting.  What was it that you were making?  Did you have a high speed spindle?   I'd like to see pictures of that setup.  Did you photograph the session?
I have a router table with some excess Z travel, rigid, and itching to fool around with mill threading(at least on short stubby pieces).  Eventually I'll be putting on the table a 5th axis(or simple sensored spindle) for slightly longer items....Yand A axes are slaved.  I can lower the table more, but it isn't yet set up to do so easily.

You piqued my curiosity!

General Mach Discussion / Making a boring tool an internal threading tool
« on: January 22, 2006, 02:26:55 PM »
..For general info....
Here are several pictures showing the grinding I did to convert a smallish boring tool.  The third picture is the resulting thread on an aluminum tube using Brian's simple threading wizard.
