General Mach Discussion / Synchronise Rotary axis feed with X and Z feed
« on: January 05, 2010, 06:15:35 AM »
Hi, I have my rotary axis setup for some time now.

The problem I have is: Ratio is 7:1 Microstep is 8, so 8 X 200 X 7 = 11200 steps per revolution and 31.1111 step per degree.

To get a decent feed rate with the rotary, must input at least a feed of F1000.

And a feed of 1000 is way too much for a router table.

How could I overcome this in configuration, is there other way to calculate my step.

Thanks for any advice.

Like the title says.

This sound like a great add on to any machine but can't figure out what it is and how it works.

Thanks in advance.

Feature Requests / Search function
« on: November 24, 2009, 06:46:54 PM »
It would be great if we could have access to a search function inside the Gcode window like search for the next tool change, next M01.

This could be a great add on since the line number in the Gcode window does not always match the one in the edit window,

Just an idea.

Hi,

I have 2 sheets of 1/2 inch Plexiglas, 36 X 36 inches.

I would like to build a vacuum table for my CNC router.

How would you built it, would you use both sheets one over the other with spacers between and hook up vacuum hose between too.

Would you build 2 or only 1 ( 2, I could place both on the table if I have bigger board to machine)

Which is better, equally spaced holes, (if yes, what diameter should they be drill) or machined slot and put rubber material to be equal to the dimension of the board I want to machine.l

Would like to get your ideas because I would not like to scrap my material.

Hope to receive some good advice,

Thanks, Jeff

General Mach Discussion / Water cooled spindle motor safety
« on: June 18, 2009, 01:46:36 AM »
Hi, I'm about hooking up my Water cooled spindle motor and I have some concern about safety.

On my old motor, I had a safety switch in series with the motor so when I had a tool change to do, I always disable it with the switch, did not want to rely on Mach3 only.

But with the new motor which have a VFD, as per the manual, nothing can be connected between the VFD and motor.

I want Mach3 to control the on and off of the spindle and when everything is working OK, then I want mach3 to Control RPM too.

But not sure about Mach3 for safety, afraid something happen when my hand are near the spindle in a tool change.

Any advice, Jeff

General Mach Discussion / Xbox 360 controller USB cable
« on: June 04, 2009, 02:17:27 AM »
Hi,

I have a Xbox 360 wireless controller but unfortunately, I do not have the usb adaptor.

Looked on Ebay for this adaptor but it is very expensive, $60.00 + shipping to Canada.

Can a USB cable or any inexpensive device be connected between the controller and my computer since I don't want to invest $80.00 on an adaptor just to make some test.

I don't mind if this become a non wireless controller.

Thanks, Jeff

Hi all

I have set up a laser cross to help me setup part that do not require precision.

My table top is made from anodized aluminum extrusions.

Is the refection from the laser cross can cause damage to the eyes.

It is a small laser cross that put 5mw of power.

Thanks, Jeff
