General Mach Discussion / Re: Second probe?

Ken,

That is correct, wire them in series, that should work for you.
If either probe opens (contact) it will be seen at the port.

Yep, motorcycle fork covers,  I guess the red was a dead giveaway.

Got the leadscrew on ebay for $79,  it is very nice, brand new, 4 circuit ballscrew.  It's original cost is probably many many times more that my whole lathe.

Just thought I would share my lathe conversion in progress.
It is a harbor freight 13 x 40.
I am going to use a servo on the Z axis and a 1200oz stepper on the X.

Yes please can you give me the settings, or maybe post a text file?

Thanks

Curtis,

Yes, it will affect the speed.   You will want to slow it down.  After the change it will try to go the 3" in the same time that is was moving the 1/4", or 32000/2000 = 16 times as fast.

Pretty impressive PLC especially for the price.  It looks like it should work with Mach, lot of ways to configure it.

You might be in incremental jog mode.  The jog mode toggles between 3 settings, incremental, continious, and off.  incremental just moves a set amount for each press of the axis jog pushbutton.

What is "quick start preload"  ?   I am not familiar with that.

What are your motor speeds, steps/in, & accelleration settings?

I think you need to mesh it first, using either option under mesh menu item.   Delauny or ball set, either one.  This creates a mesh grid that can then be saved as a stl.
