Works in progress / Simple Mill Screen
« on: October 23, 2012, 10:57:51 AM »
Hello all,
Working on another screen. Think this my 4th or 5th ?!?! :) This one started by trying to make it simple for my brother to use mill also. Iam also trying to make it with as few bitmaps as possible and adding a 4th axis, which iam building. I must admit its pretty hard not getting fancy with a screen set. ;D
Right now it is just jpegs.

Looking for some feedback from others. Like it, suggest, or just plain barf? ;)

Thanks,
Troy

Show"N"Tell ( Your Machines) / Z Axis Counter Weight
« on: December 04, 2011, 09:53:01 PM »
Hello all,
Looking for some advise on where to anchor my counter weight to head assembly. Should it be anchored closer to spindle or closer to linear rails? Ive seen it done both ways on the big VMCs. Wouldnt it be better to have it closer to spindle, to aid in vibration dampening? But, isnt there a possability that a "binding" effect can happen if i anchor out to far? Please look at pics to see what i have designed so far.

Thanks,
Troy

MACH TOOL BOX / Mill line with Rad or Ang
« on: July 31, 2009, 01:14:33 PM »
TP,
Here is one idea i have for a Mcode or macro, like the Bolt circle that pops up a window to fill in.
A macro to do a Line in X or Y and have a Radius or Angle at the end of the line.
(Iam probably going to explain this similar to the way a wizard works,a wizard to do this would be nice ;) please advise how a macro would handle this.)

Even a simplified version of this would be nice.

Questions widow would ask...
1)Cutter diameter & Tool # ?
2)Tool Offset Left,Right,Center
3)Feedrate?
4)X start Y start
5)X end Y end
6)Radius or Angle
6B) (This question depends on what 6 was selected at)What degree and angle length, or what Radius and degree Radius will end
To make 6 easier Just a 45 degree angle and what length, and radius would be 90degree.
7) Depth of Z axis
8) Step depth of Z axis to come down until Z depth is reached.

I know there is a lot of  VB coding to make this happen, i just dont know how to do it :)
There is part of the can of beans u asked me to spill TP. ;)

Hello,
Will the next Cut Circle, and any other mill operation that is similar, with new cutter comp in the next Rev of NFS, be able to Step Z down without having to come up,turn off comp, turn on comp, and then feed down to next depth of cut?
I dont see the need for all the extra moves and  tool comps, as i have edited the Gcode and eliminated all the moves and comps, and it works just fine.(Actually a lot faster)
Instead, Turn comp on at beginning , and then just keep feeding Z down after each pass, and leave comp ON till Cut Circle is finished.
I hope this can be put into next Rev,as it is a much more efficient way.
Thanks,
Troy

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / ODD Comp Move
« on: May 27, 2009, 08:32:36 AM »
Has anyone had a ODD cutter comp move with Cut Circle,or somthin else?
After making program and returning to Mach the Toolpath shows wright. But upon 1ST run of program, comp move is fast and WAY out of diameter of circle. When i stop and reset program, the next run works fine.Cant get this to happen every time thow. Almost "seems" like if it is the 1st comp move of the day, is when it does it.
Any Ideas?

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / "Graphics" run in preview
« on: January 30, 2009, 10:28:14 AM »
Hello Ron,
Wondering if a graphics or Dry Run can be added to the preview of wizards? So one can watch program run in the Preview, before posting Gcode, as this would help much if a program has a few wizards. Also it would run offline and NOT move the actual machine.
Thanks,
Troy

Newfangled Solutions Mach3 Wizards / New Comp Code,G41 & G42?
« on: January 01, 2009, 10:44:52 AM »
Hello Ron,
Wondering if wizards will use the new comp code, and will they use G41,G42 commands without the P word command?
Reason being is, I remove the P command and type in my tool diameter on the Program Run Screen in Mach, under the Tool Information Block. This offsets program to new Tool Diameter.
I do this to tweak program if i did not hit my size of part.Or to sneak up on size of part.
Thanks,
Troy
