LazyCam (Beta) / Re: Z axis returning to zero between multipasses
« on: July 16, 2009, 12:37:56 PM »
OK, I tried removing the command  retracting it to 0,1 (this is actually the value entered in the plunge clearence in posting options), and it acted like i wanted to.

I am only routing wood, so in my opinion its the same if it plunges directly after finishing one pass as it is if it has been retracted.

Thanx for your effort, and mabye someone else has some ideas to "chip" in with...get it?:)

General Mach Discussion / Z axis returning to zero between multipasses
« on: March 10, 2009, 02:09:55 PM »
Hi when i cut out a pice in multiple passes, howcome the z axis returns to zero (startpoint at top of material) before starting the next cut?

Ex: I want to make a cut through a 20 mm plywood sheet, and decide to use a 6 mm diameter tool. I would the set the machine to cut 7 passes of 3mm cuts, but after the first cut of 3mm, the z axis returns to zero before plunging down to 6 mm and make the next pass.

Are there any way to make it cut the 3 mm cut and then at the next generated g-code line just plunge to 6 mm and make the next pass, it would save me alot of time, as my z axis is not that fast.

Am I missing some settings here?

General Mach Discussion / Re: I´m back after a year away from the forum:)
« on: February 22, 2009, 07:20:05 AM »
Thanx Guys, its good to be back, and finally have time to spend on my machine.

Are there any major changes in the Mach3 that should convince me to go back to Mach 3 instead of using the Quantum?

I am very pleased with the path smoothing/anti jerking function there.
Is the Cv control better in the newest versions of Mach3, making it smoother or anything like this?

General Mach Discussion / I´m back after a year away from the forum:)

Hi guys, I´m back after a year away from the forum, due to oyher hobbies and extra time at work.

I see that there has been alot of releases of mach 3 updates since mine v3.036 from feb 2008

I read in a post that Quantum was no longer beeing developed and the features that where ment for Q, is no integrated into  Mach 3. (read path smoothing)

I just upgraded to v 3.042.021, and have read the release notes, but if somone here could  write a line or 2 to inform me of the major changes, as i can not fint any anti jek function iin my newest version, as there is in Q.

My machine runs best on Q

Another thing I have forgotten this past year is transfering all my settings like VB´s brans and macros from the old version to the new one, I did copy the 1024.lset file and the xml file but cannot remeber how i did it, did i just paste it in the mach folder?

I also noticed that the wizzards are no longe licenced, only demo after upgrading, why?

Please shed some light on the return of the lost son:)

Here is the dxf file of the eagle, just scale it to suit your material thickness

Enjoy

Thanx Glenn

The cuts where made at 8.95 mm and the plywood is about 9.08 mm, ao the whole thing was knocked together with a leftover oak stick.
It is extremely tight fit, but it is very sturdy dry fittet.
In fact it was a little to tight as you can see from the picture.
I could not get the globe tight enough together so thet it would fit the slots in the stand.

I think it is completed out of somwhere between 60 and 70 pieces

I can send you the dxf file if you are interested

Made this Eagle on a globe from a file found on cnczone.com

Its made out of 3/8" plywood, and cut with a 1/4" ecarbide 2 flute straight cutter

Thanx jimini ( I believe)
