General Mach Discussion / CV or exact stop mode?
« on: February 17, 2008, 01:30:30 PM »
Just ran a 3d sign from the trial v of vcarve (you have propably tested the bullshead sign yourself?)
I ran it first in exact stop mode and then in cv mode, during the exact stop mode the movements where pretty "shaky" if thats understandable.

A lot smother in cv mode.

What is the difference here, can anyone explain this to a newbie?

The result was also pretty much the same.

Cut this in solid oak, but I am not sure I am all that satisfied with the result, ill try to post apicture later.

Ran the machine on 1000 mm/min with a 60 degree v bit

General Mach Discussion / Version confusion
« on: February 17, 2008, 10:58:21 AM »
Hi
Been running Mach 3 for ayear or 2 now, and I love it.

i once in a while update the software with the latest version, just to keep up to date.

just downloaded Mach3Mach3 Dev. Update R3.036  , but  when i press "about mach3 cnc controller" under help it states V R2.60

Is this just a non updated section of the software or am I really running on this version?

General Mach Discussion / Zero X & Y axis based on laser cross
« on: February 08, 2008, 06:34:47 PM »
I have fairly large table on my machine, and use different positions to clamp my material according to size.
I saw a video on Youtube about aligning the laser at the corner of the object to work on and then make that the center of the spindle, this would make this X0 Y0, if you know what I mean, an offset so to speak.

The problem is that I dont know how to set it up, and I do not want i to be a homing position as I only run softlimits and sometimes work the pieces out of True X0 an Y0

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

I havemade a seperate button in my Screenset for this so I can choose this whenever I want, but need some scripters to help me out her:)

LazyCam (Beta) / Different tool on specific layers
« on: February 07, 2008, 09:25:03 AM »
Mabye I am just plain stupid, but if I want to cut 2 chains/layers, example; a circle within a circle and want to use 2 different tools on this,I run in to a problem

If I choose a tool from the tooltable and set the depth and so on, and then mark the other chain to select the tool for this path, the first one changes to whatever tool I chose last.

in other words, I cannot get 2 different tools in the same project.

What settings have I got wrong?

General Mach Discussion / Noise during auto tool zero
« on: January 22, 2008, 09:56:34 AM »
I have just configured my machine to use auto tool zero, and the system works fine if i connect a switch to the assigned pin and grounds it, but as soon as i connect the cable going from my cabinet to the junction box there must be some interference that gives a signal to the pin, cause it stops the feed and retracts as it was to hit the touch plate.

I hvae tried to increase the debounce up to 5000 but no difference.

Another thing that happened is that I have a button on my control panel for homing, and a couple of times after i have tried the zeroing using the button directly on my printercable, is that it suddenly starts homing....

I disabled this pin input and it didn´t happen again.

The funny thing is that even if only the cable is connected and not the touch plate it still gets the signal (noise)rather imideately

Anyone care to guess?

I am running the solenoid throu a PLC, and only need info on how to assign/configure the output

Didnt seem to find any info on this when I watched the input/output video here on the site

Thanx in advance

Hi guys

I need a breakoutboard for my second paralell port to make the buttons on my controlpanel connect to my computer.

Do I need a seperate BOB, or can I use the +5v on the other bob as long as i connect the grd´s, or  is there a common ground in the pc that takes care of this?
Of course this would not be isolated in anyway, but can it be done?

I run a secondary paralellport driving 2 servos in step/dir, and a driver/bob for the stepper on the z axis.
This bob only have homing, limit/emergency input and 3 outputs.

Running my machine today wit just an old printercable stripped at the end and the wires connected directly, but as I understand I need a BOB to get my 5v from the specific paralell port , as i dont see any +5v on the paralell port pinout.

I guess the 5v on the other port/bob is transformed from the powersupply on the board, am I correct+

So need a tip of what BOB to get to make this good, easy fast and cheap....hmmmm possible?... dont know, but the fast part could be nice:)

Bring it on guys, what do you recomed for a BOB intended only for I/O

Live in Europe so if anyone have any suppliers ther it is also interesting

General Mach Discussion / Alway run a G28 at the end of a file
« on: December 05, 2007, 10:58:18 AM »
Hi

Are there any way to make mach3 put a G28 at the end of all files, so that the machine always return to home after a job has finished?

Run most my files via LC, can it be done when posting from here?

General Mach Discussion / Safe and accurate homing speed
« on: November 20, 2007, 11:28:02 AM »
What speed would be safe to run during homing and still get an accurat homing?

Mabye this is like asking: how big is a car?

I run rapids/max speed of 7500mm/m, and are currently homing at 50%.

Are there any answer to this without testing with a dial?

My homing switches are inductive switches that run through a plc
