General Mach Discussion / Re: Work Offset Parameter Values?
« on: September 05, 2010, 11:10:50 PM »
Thanks guys, That puts my mind at rest.  Just to clarify, this thread refers to figure 10-1 in the Mach3 Users Guide. As BR549 points out, after parameter number 5220 all parameter numbers are offset by one.

General Mach Discussion / Re: Work Offset Parameter Values?
« on: September 05, 2010, 04:22:59 PM »
Hi,  I am writing a value to Parameter Number 5243, which, according to the documentation I have, is Work Offset 2Y. But it appears on the Offsets Page as Work Offset 2Z, and after a G55 the Z axis position reflects the new Y offset. I am only using work offsets 1 and 2 at the moment and I can cope with entering the parameter values I need by offseting the location by one, but it would be reasuring to get to the bottom of this.  Cheers, Kit

General Mach Discussion / Work Offset Parameter Values?
« on: September 05, 2010, 05:42:05 AM »
Hi,  I notice that the Work Offset Parameter numbers are offset by one.  Is this a quirk of my installation or is there updated documentation somewhere? I have looked and searched without success. Thanks, Kit

Now you just need a very large dust collector -
Funny you should say that. I am making a cyclone first, in the opening shot of the video I am cutting components for the cyclone fronm 22mm ply. I ran it up for the first time tonight. At the moment I seem to spend more time cleaning up than cutting.

I have posted a video on youtube  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x7BQ-URq24
The machine is a WeekeBP30, as you will be able to tell I am just getting to grips with the machine, and my camera. I am tending towards  gentle cuts at the moment as I dont want too many broken cutters. The resolution is .001ins and rapids are about 2000ipm. Thanks again to Brian, Kenny and Smurph.   Kit

Thanks Waverly, I have been wondering how Custom Mesages worked for a long time.   Kit

Galil / Re: Input Configuration

The pdf HillBilly refers to does indeed explain the I/O numbering, for Input1 thru 16. Unfortunately my question referred to Ports and Pins screen of Mach which only lists Input1 thu 4, so my question remains, how do I allocate pin numbers to Inputs5 thru 16? Am I being even more dense than usual?

Have you tried increasing the Queue Buffer Level? Information on this is on page 9 of the Galil Plugin pdf.   Kit

Hi Jim,
You have my sympathy, I too was shocked the first time I selected "Servo Reverse" and watched the servo control loop crash. It seems to depend which page you read, on page 6 which is headed Prerequisites, it says "All Home and Limit switches should be connected and verified. You can use the 'Display Data Record' menu option in the 'Tools' menu of SmartTerm." Basically it tells you to do what most people would do, set up their servos using SmartTerm or other Galil utility and then run Mach and configure the Galil Plugin. Then on page 11 it shows that Servo Reverse" changes MT to -1 but leaves CE at 0. In my humble opinion it is somewhat unexpected to to find the DRO's and the physical movement working in the opposite direction, and even more of a surprise that "Servo Reverse" changes the polarity of the feedback signal in the servo control loop, if you haven't got that right before you start Mach you would be in problems. I personally would not change the polarity of the feedback in software, much safer to change the wiring. Darek is right when he points you to the Homing menu, I think you will find that by trying different combinations of "Reverse" and "Home Neg" you will get things moving in the right direction. And yes, it is weird, but Mach with Galil is Grrrrrrreat, and each with each version it gets even better. If you need any more help, come back as I have been setting up  Mach with a Galil 1750 today so it is pretty fresh in my mind.

Galil / Input Configuration
« on: January 12, 2010, 02:51:00 PM »
Hi, I am using a Galil 1750 controller with sinusoidal comutation on the X and Y axis. I have downloaded the latest version of Mach3 and the Galil plugin. I am not sure how to configure the inputs on the Ports and Pins screen of Mach. Only inputs #1 to #4 are listed, how do I configure inputs #5 to #8 and what is the best way to configure the E-Stop input?  Thanks Kit
