General Mach Discussion / Re: big router vacuum tables ?!?
« on: January 04, 2006, 04:23:58 PM »
the table can be cut with a criss cross grid of say 6 mm slots  spaced about 10  20 mm apart the vacuum holes link from bottom of table into these slots
you can then use a rubber type seal that you push into the slots so that it is covered with the work  this sits over the top of it you have to make sure that you have a vac
hole that will draw from this area .

the rest of the holes that are not used you bung up with stoppers  the idea is that you do not have any leaks so that the full vac will hold the part in place

you have to also put seal round any area that you will break thro  so that it will not release the vacuum  while you are cutting

or  you set  your cut so that you leave about  0.5 mm in the bottom of the cut    with plastic this can be cut with a knife after

if you are doing a lot of jobs  sometimes it pays to make up a spoil board with all the seals in the right place and mount this on top of the table with screw fixings
you have to seal between this and the table as well

General Mach Discussion / cut circle wizard by Kiran problem
« on: January 04, 2006, 02:16:04 PM »
Hi guys  have got my toy working now and have started to try out some of the wizards
I am having a problem with the on  for cut circle    by kiran

when i first try to use this i asked for a 50 mm dia  circle  but  my cnc  cut a circle  about 200 mm  dia and ofset from the point it should have centerd on

i have tryed to simulate this  and run in software only by the following

start mach  3  and reset
home mach 3
zero all dros
call up the wizard  and set up a circle  of 50 mm dia
set x  and y  to 0.0
set tool to 2mm dia
post g code
regen tool path
run program
the x dro will drive to +23.9 mm
the y dro will drive
then as the cutter comes round the x dro will then drive to -71.0 mm

this is the bit that i think is going wrong    this adds up to    71 +23.9    = 94.9  mm    not the 50 mm - cuting tool dia  that i expected

any one know is it the wizard that  is wrong  or i am i missing something

regards Bill

hi  i use same board  as you
have you set up the inputs in  mach 3  to suit this board   and check they are set to operate at the correct level  ie active high / active low   depending on how you have wired in your switches  as defult the pin and port numbers are wrong

I tend to wire active high     the voltage is held down while switch is closed 0 volts to input if swith opens  voltage comes up high  and this is a limit condition

i find with this way i could only use only 1 set of limit conections on bobs board  else it did not see the limit  wired both switches in serise with each other and back to one input
